Best combination of computer components for around 600 including tower. Im totally new to computer gaming and dont much about computers

Answer
Well, you could buy a computer for around 600$ that will run games, but within the next 1-2 year's it would become outdated very fast. My suggestion would be to buy a barebones kit from Tigerdirect "It comes with all the thing's to make a computer, but you build it yourself" you can build a 1000+ dollar computer for 500-600 dollar's the catch is you have to assemble it yourself, and you being new to computer gaming you might not know how to assemble everything so I would have a trustworthy friend do it for you, It saves you ton's of money in the long run, and most are extensively upgradable. I'll link some of the kit's in the description. It doesn't come with a monitor or mouse but you can find those relatively cheap I have some sitting around and if you were my buddy I would give them to you for free, but most gamers have those thing's laying around so chances are one of your friend's will.

Best parts for a gaming computer around 600 dollars?

My dad can put computers together, but i would like to know what parts i should get for a gaming computer, for around 600 dollars. I am looking for the top fps i can get, i know this obviously is not a lot of money for a gaming computer, but i wanted to see if anyone could give me any suggestions

Answer
I just whipped this together, might take some tweaking. Have your dad look it over:

AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Processor (Quad x 3.20 GHz) - $120
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5752143&CatId=4432

Gigabyte GA-880GM-D2H Motherboard (Supports DirectX 10.1) - $70
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7109093&CatId=5539

2 x 2GB RAM 1333MHz (4GB all together) - $35
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1239959&CatId=4534

Radeon HD 5830 - $150

600w Power Supply - $35
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6448054&CatId=1483

1TB HDD (Western Digital, unfortunately) - $65
http://www.thrift-king.com/hardware/western-digital-hdd-1tb-wd10ears-caviar-green-sata3-0-desktop-storage-64mb-cache-bare.html

Subtotal: $475 Not including tax (TigerDirect may include tax, I'm not totally sure)

----

To do with the remainder:

1 - Try to find a motherboard (which still supports an AM3 slot for the processor) that supports DirectX 11.

2 - Consider upping the 5830 GCard to a 5870 if you have the money. It's about $80 more but it's a lot more powerful. Consult this list:
http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html

3 - Lastly, if you don't have a case already, throw in a cheap case.

4 - If you don't have a monitor, scrap the last 3 "To do's" and buy the best one you can afford.

----

That's my two cents. I tried to match the best items I could find for the budget given to work as well with each other as possible. That's a pretty decent gaming PC - especially for the price. It will play any game out there today without a problem.

Of course I'm just giving you the hardware. You wouldn't have to buy them from the links I've given you.

The only downside is there isn't much room for expanshion. When it is time to upgrade the PC a few years down the road, you'll have to throw out the motherboard and the power supply. I will suggest getting a motherboard with two PCI 2.0 slots, buying another GCard (the same as you decided to go with initially) and a 800W or over power supply. Then crossfire the cards, and your machine will have almost twice the gaming power.

Hope this helped. The little bits and bobs (like internet cards) are really cheap now days (~$10) so don't worry about them yet.
