I want intel core i.3/i.5, intel motherboard,4gb ram, 500-750gb harddisk,1gb graphics card(mast),18.5 or 19inch monitor, and other thinks. Suggest me good specification with price or a good branded pc on my price. Plz help me. I am from India.

Answer
i3 2100 : 8000 INR
GTX 550 ti : 8000 INR
RAM 4 GB : 2000 INR
psu 550 W: 2000 INR
Mobo: Intel DZ68DB: 7500 INR
Monitor : Samsung 18.5 inch LED - S19A100N Monitor : 6300 INR

It goes to around 33800 INR and an i5 and a good gpu will together cost around 27000 so you will have to settle for i3 and the midrange GTX 550 ti. 550 isn't bad but you can't max out every upcoming game on it but even medium settings do look great.

Should I get a gaming laptop or desktop?

I am looking to invest in a new PC and I'm not sure whether I should get a laptop or desktop. I want a decent PC that'll last me at least a while. It should be able to run games like Minecraft and TF2. And I also prefer a PC with Windows 7, not 8. I also don't want to spend over $1,000 and am not looking to build a custom desktop sine I have no experience whatsoever.

Laptop...

PROS:
- It's portable and I can move it around my small house whenever needed

CONS:
- To get a powerful laptop, it'd be more expensive than a desktop with equal components

Desktop...

PROS:
- It'd be cheaper to buy a powerful desktop than laptop

CONS:
- I wouldn't be able to bring it on trips due to monitor portability

Also, I am currently looking into the $699 Alienware X51 and looking for a $0-199 12"-22" monitor that has an HDMI input. And if I were to get a laptop, I'm looking into HP pavillions and stuff like that.

All suggestions and buying tips are helpful.
Thank you :)
EDIT: I'm not looking into an Alienware laptop because it would end up being well over $1,000 which I want to stay under

Answer
For gaming, a laptop is rarely the answer.
You can find laptops which allow for and upgraded video card. You would have to research laptops which have that option and check the performance scores of the card you can add/switch to against those required for the games you will play.

If buying HP, I strongly recommend the ProBooks and Elitebooks over the Pavillions. The former are excellent, well-built machines with native US support where as the Pavillions or consumer line machines are support by whichever contracted call center gets the call anywhere in the world, usually India.

Asus offers some machines they rate for gaming, and theirs would be less expensive than Alienware, without a doubt. It's a little more than your mentioned price limit, but Amazon has the ASUS G75VW-AS71 17.3-Inch Gaming Laptop new for $1199.

Lenovo is arguably the best laptop manufacturer in the world. They offer these gaming laptops:
