i am selling my netbook for 200 and im getting 300 for christmas (maybe more i dont know yet) and so im just doing a little research a bit early. i need a computer that can atleast run source games at a decent fps (anywhere higher than 30) and i will also need a keyboard, mouse, monitor, and operating system. dont give me shit about how i need more money, just try to make the best build you can with 500 dollars. I will look at all the builds people post and i will decide whether or not i will higher my budget
Answer
$500 is possible with tower and operating system.
but if a monitor has to be included in this price it will become pretty crappy. tell me your meaning about this.

What is a good Gaming desktop computer for under $500?
Coupled
Rather not build...
Used for Nazi Zombies Minecraft BF3 COD Etc.
Answer
I see one at $550, and what appears to be a mis-priced non-gaming PC at Tigerdirect that is interesting for $500.

iBUYPOWER Gamer Power NE615FX Desktop PC AMD FX-Series FX-4100(3.6GHz) 8GB DDR3 1TB SATA II 3Gb/s HDD, AMD Radeon HD 7750 1GB Windows 8, 300 Watt power supply,
Looks nice enough, but the power supply is a rather weak one, and SATA, PCIe both at rev 2 instead of 3, but the HD 7750 should be able to play Battlefield 3 on high (not ultra) settings.
Older games would be maxed out. It is a reasonable gaming level for the price.

It is about a $90 graphics card, $100 CPU, $90 Windows operating system, so considering all the parts it takes, the price is very good for what is offered even with a power supply that may need replacing relatively quickly. It is not under $500.
There appears to be a mis-priced Acer Desktop PC at $500

Intel Core i5 3450(3.10GHz)
8GB DDR3 2TB HDD Capacity
AMD Radeon HD 7570 1GB
It has a good strong CPU, but again the weak 300W power supply and only an HD 7570.
It should approximate an HD 5670 or 5770 (#105), where the HD 7750 is close to GTX 550 ti
