Gaming with a PC monitor?

atvz1094

So basically I can decide whether to play my XBOX360 on my regular TV or my PC monitor? My TV is fairly old so it doesn't have any HDMI support or 1080p or anything like that so the graphics are fairly mediocre compared to a TV with HD support, but will my PC monitor be able to show my games in HD when I purchase the VGA cable to play with my xbox on it? Its a Dell monitor that came with my Dell Dimension e510 i bought roughly 3-4 years ago. is gaming with a PC monitor better or worse? pros and cons?

Answer
You'll definitely want to use your PC monitor. "HD" is really just a marketing term that defines any content rendering at resolution of 720p (1280x720) or greater as "high-definition" content.

The fact is that PC monitors have been running in "HD" for years. A common native resolution supported by many mainstream 19-20 inch LCD's is 1280x1024, which is actually greater than 720p in spite of having a 5:4 aspect ratio.

16:9 or 16:10 "widescreen" PC monitors use even higher resolutions like 1680x1050 or 1920x1200. 30" PC monitors run at the insane resolution of 2560x1600 (WQXGA). Most 24 inch LCD monitors run at 1920x1200, which is slightly better than a 1080p (1920x1080) HDTV. 30 inch LCD monitors that run at 2560x1600 (1600p) blow any 1080p HDTV out of the water with the right source material.

Anyway, use the 360's VGA cable and your PC monitor. You should be able to set the resolution to 1280x1024 or better, depending on the native resolution of your monitor. This will be MUCH better than your old SDTV.

Is playing pc games in far monitor better than near? i noriced that the graphics looks better when far especially in modern warfare compared when playing near in monitor the graphics looks bad? why is it like that?

Answer
when you get closer it is easier to see the pixels (little squares) in the monitor. you should try to get somewhere in between far and close, because the farther you are the harder to see the squares

if you don't know about any squares, get REALLY close to you monitor and concentrate you will see them perfectly

How do pc games look on widescreen monitor?

Q. I am planning to get a widescreen monitor.I was wondering if theese are also good for pc games (like san andreas, call of duty 2 ...).
Do they work?.Also do they look good , or the image is unclear?
Does san andreas, call of duty 2, c&c generals : zero hour, and new games look good?
Do they make it to be compatible?

Answer
some of the first person shooters only look good from a far distance, which is no better that a small screen up close.

I am looking for a new monitor for my PC Gaming rig. I only play FPS games.

What is "THE BEST" monitor on the market at the moment for gaming that will deliver the maximum frame rate? (My computer can play games over 100fps, but I just need a monitor that can deliver more than 60fps for me to enjoy it to the max)

Anyone know of the best?

Answer
welll.. define "The Best"

by my standards (and your not gonna like this) the BEST display would be:
NEC PA301W 30" IPS 2560x1600 monitor. for the best experiences you'l need 3 of them.
99% perfect color reproduction
excellent contract
14 bit 3D color dictionary (some 1.3 billion colors)
it supports 3D display
industry standard for graphics, video, and game designers.
its um, $2300 each, and 3 of them would be... $6900. and since its obviously extremely valuable, shipping would be like $400 ($200 to ship + $200 in insurance)

you'll need dual-link DVI -out or you'll have trouble enjoying this top-quality monitor.
this is as close as you can get to an Apple computer's display, which is the best there is.

MaximumPC's Dream Machine 2011 utilized 3 of the best monitors in the world.
http://www.maximumpc.com/article/features/dream_machine_2011_how_we_created_best_pc_ever
they also had three nVidia GTX 580's to back i up, I seriously doubt anything less can actually handle so many pixels. at 4800x2560 most graphics cards will be struggling to produce even 5 FPS.

How can I get a Gaming PC an Monitor for affordable price?

Nick G

I want a gaming pc an monitor for a reasonable price. I want it to pe able to play my games like Call of Duty 1 and 4. I also play many other games but my laptop can't handle all this. Please answer me.

Answer
I would recommend building your own. Wait for great deals and after a while you will have a pretty good system. I did it.

Cost about $550 and 3 months of deal finding

3.2GHz Pentium 4
3 GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce 9600GT -really good budget video card
DVD burner with lightscribe
Blue CCFL front
Wireless keyboard and mouse
1920x1200 monitor

I don't do much gaming but I do play Fallout 3 with the video settings between high and ultra
