What are some good gaming monitors?

Im Building a pc and want to get a gaming monitor under $300. What do you think of the ASUS VS278Q-P Ultrafast 1ms 27-Inch LED-Lit Monitor or ASUS VG248QE 24-Inch Screen LED-lit Monitor. Any recommendations or suggestions?

the monitor you list is a VERY good gaming monitor. The 27" that is. You want the as fast a response time and the biggest size you can afford. Asus makes good monitors (and no I'm not affiliated w/them in any way) and you won't go wrong w/that 1st one you listed.

i am getting a gaming gaming computer that will be powerful enough to run all games on max at 1920x1080. i am considering getting a 21 inch lcd for the pc but i really want to hook the pc upto my 46 inch lcd via hdmi. i want it to be next to my xbox and my hd pvr cause i do tend to record myself playing xbox. what i want to know is if i should hook it up to the tv or get a display? and if i will still be getting the same resolution/ graphics if its on a 46 inch tv.

I have hooked up my PC to a 51" Samsung plasma tv and it was not as clear as my monitor. Print is blurry, contrast isn't as sharp, and colors are not as vibrant. You might have a bit better luck with an LCD tv, but probably not all that much better. An LED tv would be best, but you should just buy a monitor. Also, even though the native resolution of the tv was 1920x1080, I still had to adjust the position of the display quite a bit to fit it on the screen. It ended up being like 1850x990.

I would recommend an LED backlit LCD display. LED backlit monitors have much better contrast (blacks are deep black, and whites are bright white) and will last longer, and use less power. You can get a good deal on one at Costco if you or a family member has a membership. I got a Samsung 27" LED from them and love it. Only drawback is the stand isn't adjustable. Here is a good 21" LED 1080p that they sell there.

Is there a gaming console Audio/Video jacks adapter for computer monitors?

I ask because I bought a new computer and a 20inch widescreen LCD monitor. I wonder if I could buy and adapter and use my old 27 inch to just watch television while my new monitor can play 360 games. I bought the computer and monitor to mainly play PC games, but it would be nice to play my console games on a better screen.

simple adapters for $10 or so exist for vga to dvi adaptation, and that is Video only, no audio.
for audio you'll need 3.5mm to whatever you want to plug into. 3.5mm for speakers, maybe rca for a home stereo.

hdmi -> dvi is possible with only video
dvi -> hdmi is possible with only video
straight hdmi will get you video and audio

I don't quite understand the question, but for TV viewing on a monitor i recommend a pci tv tuner card. otherwise an adapter for rca to vga exist...there expensive and not very good

I currently have a 27 inch iMac and in the near future i am going to possibly build a gaming pc because as we all know mac was not made to game. I want to hook up my pc to the mac screen and use it as the monitor for the pc. Could I do this with the mini display port using the hdmi adaptor? Or can i even do this?

No you cannot, the mini display port is for hooking up an external or secondary monitor to your Mac.
