questionas

and if not please point me in the right direction I am wanting to upgrade to play the most recent and future pc games, I currently have the core 2 duo intell 1.86 ghz that uses LGA755 and I was thinking about upgrading to what is at the top the Intell i5 2400 quad core.

Answer
Yes, that combination can play BF3 maxed on a 1920x1080 or lower resolution monitor.

The GTX 660 (non-Ti) manages just over 50fps in BF3 on ultra settings at 1080p.

The Core i5 2400 is very good, just a little bit below the 2500/2500K. It's stil faster in games than any processor made by AMD.
http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/core-i5-2500-2400-2300_7.html#sect0

But if you're getting a new socket LGA 1155 motherboard I recommend going with a Core i5 3470 or 3570/3570K.

However... the GeForce GTX 660 and Radeon HD 7870 currently sell for about $230. There's a much better value around that price, the new Radeon HD 7870 LE!!

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131484

It's a Tahiti-based card, the same GPU core as the more powerful HD 7950. And it's only $10 more than a standard HD 7870 or GTX 660!!!

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Club_3D/HD_7870_jokerCard_Tahiti_LE/8.html

I personally prefer Nvidia cards, but that kind of power (GeForce GTX 660 Ti and Radeon HD 7950 level performance) is too much to pass up at that price.

2012 Gaming/ 3d Modeling/ Video editing PC Build.?

Zero Cool

Guys im from India. Im going to buy a Desktop PC with custom parts. Here's my current Configuration. Please tell me if the current build is ok enough to play Battlefield 3, Battlefield Bad Company 2, Skyrim, and most of the new games like Battlefield 3. Here the list :-

Intel Core i5-2500K Quad-Core Processor.
AMD Radeon HD 6850 or Nvidia Gtx 550 ti ( cant choose between these 2).
NZXT M59 Gaming Cabinet or Cooler Master Elite 431.
LG 22inch LED Monitor.
Cooler Master 550w extreme Power PSU.
Asus P8H67-M-LX 16GB DDR Intel Motherboard.
Ram will be 4GB DDR3 Memory of 1333 MHz.
500 GB Seagate HDD.

Please Note That :- i'll also be using software like Maya 2011/2012, Combustion, most of the adobe softwares like Premiere CS5, After Effects CS5. then HD Video Editing.etc. Also please tell me that if choosing Nvidia, is it eVGA gtx 550ti or ASUS gtx 550ti. OR if choosing Radeon, is it ASUS HD 6850 or XFX HD 6850. Please answer fast. Thanks.

Answer
Either for gaming or the programs you want to use, you're not going to make it with either of those cards because they are too weak.

You should be looking at an ATI 6970 or NVidia GTX560ti core 448, at least.

In fact, for the use of your editing stuff, you'd be better off with a Quadro card, but they're bloody expensive ($2000 to $7000) and not fit for gaming...

The rest of your system is okay, except you'd want to go for at least 8GB of RAM for the rendering/editing stuff...

Sakir K

Hello guys.
Im so confused what to buy.

here's my option 1:
=============
Intel i7 â 3770k
ASUS P8Z77-I DELUXE/WD (built in bluetooth/ wifi/WiDi )
16GB DDR3 ram
1TB HDD
Bluray burner
Samsung 27" series 9 3D monitor

***no dedicated VGA

it'll cost me almost $1950 (including everything else)

2nd option
========
iMac 27" (latest 2012)
3.2GHz quad-core Intel Core i5
8GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675MX with 1GB

***basically 4th iMac option in apple website without any upgrade

cost me $2199

wht I actually do with a PC ??
-browse internet
-watch bluray
- web coding/photoshop/flash
-casual gamer (hitman 5, COB type games)

So which one shud I get ??
plzzz help me decide...better if u also tell me why :D

Answer
You would want the 1st option because 1: It is all much faster than the iMac, and 2: Gaming is much better on PC because many more games are coded for the Windows OS.

Will my PC run skyrim or battle field in High definition with no lag ?

PS i don't want windows 8 it looks dreadful :L

Answer
Hell to the yeah. Don't get windows 8. Stick to Windows 7 and get all the games you want. That's more than enough to run modern games on full. Don't worry about it, you'll be fine :)
