Is this a good custom gaming computer configuration? I made it on Cyberpower and tried to make the best of it by taking up the "Back to school deals". I also made a few sacrifices here and there (such as not taking the care package thing for shipping). Is there anything I don't need (such as some of the noise reduction things)?

Any suggestions on a better build? Also, how long does the "back to school" megasale last?
Sorry about the other details that say "none". Just ignore those. Also, instead of an i7 what if I changed it for an i5 3570k? I'm hoping to build a computer that will not only last a long time but play future high-end games and MMORPGs.
And I have a monitor...

Answer
Willie,

Its all good, other than building a rig yourself you can't do much better, your GTX570 is the biggest bang for your GPU buck until the Kepler powered GTX660 comes out, and even then it might still be the better buy. By adding the pro wiring and sound insulation your hoping to get more care taken from the builder, its not big bucks so why not.

For the blinded by Bulldozer tard who can't see your Optical Drive: 24X Double Layer Dual Format DVD+-R/+-RW + CD-R/RW Drive (BLACK COLOR)

Performance Analysis

With the addition of numbers for the Intel Core i3-2100 and Core i5-2400 in some of our benchmarks, it's plain to see that even with a price cut, the FX-8120 struggles in most of our tests. In very multi-threaded tests such as Cinebench and WPrime, it just about manages to hold its own against the similarly-priced Intel Core i5-2400 - slightly ahead in WPrime, a little behind in Cinebench and noticeably faster than the cheaper Core i3-2100. The Core i5-3570K is much faster in both tests, but then it costs around £30 more.

Our image editing test was a real let down with the FX-8120. It came bottom of the graph, being trounced by a staggering 500 points by the Core i3-2100 - a CPU that costs just £90. Even the ageing AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition was considerably faster while the similarly priced Intel Core i5-2400 was nearly twice as fast. Clearly, if you do any amount of photo editing, the AMD FX-8120 represents particularly poor value.

With eight cores at its disposal, you'd think the FX-8120 might stand a good chance in our video encoding test. Sadly this wasn't to be and its score of 2,150 was over 400 points short of the Core i5-2400. Thankfully for the FX-8120, the Core i3-2100 was noticeably slower, with its two physical and two virtual cores not able to keep up.

Everything started to fall away from the FX-8120 again in our multi-tasking test, where it was yet again at the bottom of the pile, coming 100 points short of the much cheaper Core i3-2100, while the Core i5-2400 was nearly 50% faster - pretty damning result. Overall, it was no surprise to see the FX-8120 rock bottom, bettered by the Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition and Core i3-2100 and trounced by the Core i5-2400.

Our game test lacks data for the two Sandy Bridge CPUs as we tested these some time ago, however, with the Intel Core i5-3570K retailing for just £30-40 more, it's clear from our results that the FX-8120 isn't a great buy for games either. The Intel CPU was 60 per cent faster in Arma II while costing around 30 per cent more - not a bad rate of return if you can afford the extra l

My mom is paranoid about dangers of the computer?

best computer gaming headset 2012
on choosing the right gaming monitor is more important than most gamers ...
best computer gaming headset 2012 image

The Cape

Let's start from the beginning.5 years ago,my brother started getting his puberty feelings and started watching porn on his computer. He was hiding it,and me and my sisters got suspicious and looked at his computer one day and found out. We never told my mom,we were somewhat afraid since we knew my mom would kill him and probably us. He continued to watch and we continued to look at his computer daily. It wasn't until about a year and a half later he got caught. My mom figured out,and she talk to him. She never put a lock on his computer because she trusted him. So not a month later,we checked his computer and found more porn. Everyone was outside playing and he was inside,so we went to see what was holding him. More porn, this time he was beat and she put a lock on his computer, and me and my sisters kept checking his computer. Nothing. Just suspicious things like he tried to look up things that got blocked. She put a block on our computers too,and that's where MY life went screwed. I couldn't use Google,I wasn't allowed on many sites at the time. But at the time I wasn't a computer geek like I am now. A year after that, she took the block off his computer to see if he could be trusted once again. Me and my sister knew it was time to start watching him again, and not a week later, more porn.He got beat again and our parental locks were tighter. She keeps telling me to this day that since i'm male and i'm now a teen,I might become like him because of feelings and hormones or whatever. I told her i'd never be like him because i'm smart. So the parental locks have been tight for everyone ever since,my brother still gets in trouble for minor things like talking to girls online. Just in November 2012,he lied to two different grown women, saying he's 19,he has a car,he has a job,and some other bull. This boy now is 15 almost 16. My mom figured out because they got my house phone number, and called it,my mom picked up,and exposed him big time. She locked all of our computer even tighter afterwards. Now,he doesn't get into too much trouble but still hides many things that he'd get in serious trouble for. We share a phone but I don't let him touch it because of what he can do on it that will get me in trouble. My parental lock doesn't work and reinstalling it doesn't fix it,and my mom never put anything else to replace it. So i'm free to YouTube,Google, and whatever I please and she doesn't have a problem.

So onto why I'm asking this question. I became a big fan of video games, especially CoD,and spend most of my time on YouTube. So I recently became interested in starting my own YouTube gaming channel, maybe with my friend, who has just as much experience as I do. So I want to become like TheMediaCows,or Machinma,or Tobuscus or TobyGames,or someone like that with loads of subscribers and video views. So I need a HD PVR or Hauppauge,a good headset or mic, like Turtle Beach,or Blue Yeti or Blue Snowball. If I told my mom I'm into this stuff, she'd probably get mad and try and lock my computer or not trust me. I'm struggling to tell her that I want to because of what my brother's been doing over the past years. If she sees me on something on something she doesn't recognize, she'll get suspicious, and I have no intentions of doing what I brother did/does. As of now,I'm privately trying to build a YouTube channel, but I don't have a HD PVR,and if I try to buy one, she'll want to know why,or even what it is.

So how can I get my mother to trust me a little bit more, and to understand that I'm trying to do something productive and not anything immature like my brother?

Answer
THE BIG PROBLEM IS
.
Most those PORN sites are the prim location of getting a Virus
.
Not one that effects a human it is the ones that trash out a computer
.
And most those sites put a tracker cookie on the computer that can bog down it inter net connection speed to the speed of
.
36 kbs connection speed of 1995
.
I have seen some computers that were used as a porn site adventure machine that had to have a new hard drive put in it because of all the damage done buy those sites
.
OH - there are some out there that don't damage the machine but they are kind of like picking the winning LOTTERY number
.

I had noticed that my PC games stopped playing audio (No sound and no music) It happens somewhere around 30 minutes or so. I tested my sound by using the speaker icon on the lower right hand of the screen. I have a dual boot of Windows 8 and Windows 7 on my PC. Here are my specs below. Please help me with this, I am having game withdrawals.

Found out the error 43 has to do with a bad ipod touch cable. The audio problem is still going on.

Answer
Type services.msc on search and go to Windows Audio. check the service has stopped. If it is stopped try starting them again.

I want to make a gaming computer. Parts advice? 10 Points.?

Muhaha

I want a $1000 budget on everything in the computer, including case. It has to be easily accessible inside so I can get to stuff and swap things in and out. It has to include everything I need for playing games from a disk, and preferably a WLan card or something too for games I have on Steam. Also a $500 budget on everything else to go with the computer, such as keyboard, mouse, speakers, headset.

It has to be able to run games like BF3 and be capable of playing any MMORPG.

I like pccsegear.com because it is an Australian site. Any other Australian websites are good as well, or computer stores in the Newcastle, NSW area. I do like newegg.com, but I will NOT be using that or any foreign websites because of shipping costs and some other reasons.

This is also my first time building a computer, and even owning anything other than a laptop, so if you could direct me to a site that will help me actually build it that would be great.

This might be a lot to ask, but 10 points best answer :)

All help is greatly appreciated. Maybe also if you could direct me to some place where I could learn more about these parts and what the specs of parts actually mean and how they differentiate from others. Thanks :)

Answer
I am doing something similar to you, so I won't get the 10 points, but I'd recommend a business known as msy computers that are Australian for purchasing the parts. They allow you to check if parts are in stock online and then you can pick them up, they usually have everything very cheap, and their range is fair. The only catch is they have virtually no customer service, you go in there and tell them what you want and then the person goes and gets it for you. If you can find that store nearby to you I'd recommend it, they're pretty common over here in SA.

Also from what I'm gathering from research it would be a good idea to go with an ivy bridge intel processor and a motherboard. Youtube and Google how to build computers and stuff, there were a very nice tutorials which I found helpful in learning how to build them.

And it is DDr3

Answer
Is the RAM DDR 3 or 2? I'm just going to assume 3.

I'd estimate all this at about 7-800.

Also assuming it's not coming with those games.

The Intel CPU was 60 per cent faster in Arma II while costing around 30 per cent more - not a bad rate of return if you can afford the extra layout.

Conclusion,

Sadly, its more of the same bad news for AMD or anyone with a Socket AM3+ motherboard looking for a decent CPU for around the £150 mark. The FX-8120 just isn't a good choice when it comes to the kind of applications we run on our PCs. It's regularly outpaced by far cheaper Intel dual-core CPUs, while the similarly-priced Intel Core i5-2400 is significantly faster in many of our tests. It's not all bad news for AMD - before we get accused of being biased towards Intel, we have no qualms recommending the A8-3870K for those looking to build a budget gaming PC, while we also recommend many of its graphics cards. Do drop the CPU OC its so easy why pay for it.

As it stands, the FX-8120 will have to be a lot cheaper for it to be worth considering over an equivalently-priced Intel setup, while owners of the Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition can rest assured that there aren't any worthwhile upgrades yet.

To save some bucks now going to a i5 3570k is a great idea and go with the cheapest GPU for now or if you have one already use it till the Kepler power GTX660 comes out.

I do recommend building your own rig not buying, you will have fun learning and taking control of your computational needs, and get more gaming power for your buck. I have added a few more links, hope they help.
