Building a gaming computer from scratch, I need to know the best parts from the inside of the cpu to the out side. It doesnt matter what the cost is.

this should be sufficient by far to throw anything at it.

the rest of the parts (HDD, BR/DVD/CD, monitor, keyboard & mouse) are not that important and are up to you.

Would this be a good gaming computer build for the price?

I am trying to build my first gaming computer, but I am on a limited budget ($640 including mouse and keyboard- not monitor since I already have one). It also goes without saying, I have little clue on what I am doing.

I am planning to use this build for the latest FPS games (such as CoD, battlefied), portal, as well as some less demanding games such as minecraft. I dont need to max out the settings, But i would love to be on high for those.

If you think I should replace some components for this build please tell me why and which component I should choose instead. But within my budget limit please.

This is the build:

CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor $120 w/ promo code so $110

CPU Cooler: Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 45.0 CFM Fluid Dynamic Bearing CPU Cooler $23

Motherboard: ASRock 970 EXTREME4 ATX AM3+ Motherboard $100

Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1333 Memory $60

Storage: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1333 Memory $65 $5 mail in-rebate so $60

Video Card: Asus Radeon HD 7770 2GB Video Card $133 $15 mail in-rebate so $118

Case: Antec One ATX Mid Tower Case $56 $10 mail in-rebate so $46

Power Supply: Corsair Builder 430W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply $40
$20 mail in rebate so $20

Keyboard: Corsair Raptor K30 Wired Gaming Keyboard $50

Mouse: Corsair Raptor M40 Wired Optical Mouse $54

What do you guys think?

Answer
It's a nice set up. But if I were you I should do this:
Buy an 500/600 watt power supply (for later upgrades and make sure your pc has enough power)

8Gb RAM is more than enough. And buy 2x 4Gb of an brand which is not expensive.
You'll save money, of that money buy an I5 processor instead an amd fx-6300!

So my current gaming computer really needs an upgradd. I want take everything out of this premade computer and add in new parts. can i reuse my current case to save some money?

Answer
DEFINITELY YES.

Cases are extremely overrated. There are cases that cost $200. For what?

You can easily save $30-40 on a case by using your old case. I'm so happy that you thought of this idea yourself. The case barely has any affect on performance of your computer. New high end cases are designed to accomodate water cooling. There are many gimmicks that they are trying to capitalize on. I'm sick of that.

You can also use your old optical drive, wifi, hard drive and anything else that might be useful (obviously keyboard mouse etc).

Get a i5-2500k and build around that cpu. Best advice on a new gaming computer build.

If your budget is smaller, build it around the AMD Phemon II X4 955BE cpu.

What do i need to build my own gaming computer?

I want to build my own gaming computer, but not at the price of an alienware. What parts do i need for everything.

Answer
Okay, I'll just give you an example of parts that you need to build a decent gaming PC:

Here is an example:

Intel Core i3-2120 Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz LGA 1155 65W Dual-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 2000 BX80623I32120 - $128

GIGABYTE GA-H61M-DS2 LGA 1155 Intel H61 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard - $55

G.SKILL Value 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9S-4GBNT - $20

HITACHI HDS721050CLA362 (0F10381) 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive - $80

ASUS EAH6670/DIS/1GD5 Radeon HD 6670 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card - $93 ($73 after rebate)

Thermaltake V3 Black Edition VL80001W2Z Black SECC / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - $50 ($40 after rebate)

COOLER MASTER eXtreme Power Plus RS500-PCARD3-US 500W ATX12V v2.3 Power Supply - $45 ($35 after rebate)

LITE-ON DVD Burner - Bulk 24X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 12X DVD+R DL 24X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM Black SATA Model iHAS124-04 - OEM - $18

inland Home/Office Series 88033 7.2 Watts 2.0 Speaker -$10

inland 70126 Black 107 Normal Keys USB Wired Standard Keyboard / Mouse Combo - $13.79

Acer S201HLbd Black 20" 5ms LED-Backlight LCD monitor 250 cd/m2 ACM 12,000,000:1 (1000:1) - $100

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit - OEM - $100

TOTAL : $712.79 ($672.79 after rebate). This is a perfect example of a COMPLETE BUILD that is decent enough to let you play ALL GAMES on mid settings and some on high settings (depending on game's requirement and resolution you intend to play with).

NOTE : newegg parts and prices.

BTW, this is just an example and you could build an even better gaming PC depending on your budget of course =D

Basically, this is the CHEAPEST decent gaming PC that I could recommend to you.
