Whats a good gaming computer?

John

What's a good gaming computer I can buy in a single package from $700 - $900 ($1000 ABSOLUTE MAX). I'm looking to play games only, download steam play Minecraft ect. not much Internet Browsing as i have a MacBook Pro that i use for that. I'd rather not build my own from the base up and would like something that i could possibly add to later on if i fall into some more money!

Answer
A good gaming computer is a build that can practically meet the recommended requirements of all present games and better if it is above the recommended requirements of new games. Basically you should have the following:

1. Core i5

2. RAM - ddr3 8gb (1333mhz or 1600 mhz)

3. Video card - high end, gtx560 and above

4. PSU- good, branded type like corsair, antec, thermaltake etc, wattage will depend heavily on the type of video card you are getting.

or you could try this if you are not cut out or hasn't got the time to building your own PC:

iBUYPOWER Gamer Extreme 954i Desktop PC Intel Core i5 2400(3.10GHz) 8GB DDR3 1TB HDD Capacity NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit - $1000

Computer Gaming Requirements Help?

Cooperace2

At this moment I have a computer that is running slow, and have absolutely no knowledge of what I would need to make a computer run decent, this generation games. So, I'm buying a new computer of sorts, and I wanted to know what would be the best buy, and what upgrades I would need to buy. I know just about everything there is to console gaming, but absolutely nothing when it comes to PC gaming, besides the games themselves. I don't plan on buying a ton of games in the future for it, just good enough to run these:
http://store.steampowered.com/sub/2546/
http://store.steampowered.com/sub/2103/
http://store.steampowered.com/app/4000/

Would I have to go desktop? Or could I run all these on a laptop?

Thanks in advance.
EDIT: I'm not sure how much I'm going to spend, I'm pretty open to any suggestions at this point.

Answer
well most new computer have several gigs of RAM and dual core processors which run games well, but what you'll probably need to do when you get a new computer is buy a better video card for it, because most stock video cards aren't great for gaming.

Gaming/Computer Requirements?

Eddie

I have a Windows Vista Ultimate w/ Intel core 2 Quad CPU Q8300 @2.5 ghz 2.5ghz.
memory/ram 6gb, &
System type 32 bit Operating. System.
ATI Radeon HD 3450
Sound Card just says HD Audio Device.

While this game i want to buy has these minimum requirements.

Operating system: Windows 7 SP1, Windows Vista with SP2, Windows XP with SP3
Processor: Intel Core2 Duo or AMD Athlon X2 running at 1.60GHz or greater
Memory: 2048MB or greater
Hard Disk Space: 8.5 GB
Video: NVIDIA GeForce 7600 256MB or greater
Sound: DirectX 9.0c compatible

I was wondering if my pc system would play it?
Thank you for the all the help.

Also game is Alice Madness Returns.

Answer
DirectX 9.0 is a software component required by the game to operate. So long as your computer can support it (Which it can) you'll be ok there. The only component that is of any concern would by your graphics card. Compare the two side by side online to determine that. The rest will work. If it supports XP, you'll be fine. I would recommend upgrading to a 64-bit Windows 7 OS though. You'll experience much more fluid use from your computer.

I wan to play this game called s4league and it has the following requirements that i cannot comprehend:

Minimum Recommended
CPUIntel Pentium Celeron 1G Intel Pentium 4 (2.0Ghz) or higher
RAM512 MB 1 GB or higher
HDD 1 GB 2 GB
Operating SystemWindows XP Windows XP/Vista/7
Graphic CardnVidia Geforce 4MX nVidia Geforce 7600GS or higher
DirectX9.0 c 9.0 c
Network56 Kbps or faster 256 Kbps or faster

I have windows 7 and my gaming score on the systems properties say 3.2, can my computer handle it?
Thank you!

Answer
right click computer, click properties and it will say your CPU, if it is more than 2.0Ghz then you are OK.

The graphics card requirement should be OK, it is quite low.

You are on windows 7 so you have much more than 512MB of ram.

All in all I would say you can easily run that game on almost any computer, so you should be fine!

I want to build my own gaming computer, but not at the price of an alienware. What parts do i need for everything.

Answer
Okay, I'll just give you an example of parts that you need to build a decent gaming PC:

Here is an example:

Intel Core i3-2120 Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz LGA 1155 65W Dual-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 2000 BX80623I32120 - $128

GIGABYTE GA-H61M-DS2 LGA 1155 Intel H61 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard - $55

G.SKILL Value 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9S-4GBNT - $20

HITACHI HDS721050CLA362 (0F10381) 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive - $80

ASUS EAH6670/DIS/1GD5 Radeon HD 6670 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card - $93 ($73 after rebate)

Thermaltake V3 Black Edition VL80001W2Z Black SECC / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - $50 ($40 after rebate)

inland Home/Office Series 88033 7.2 Watts 2.0 Speaker -$10

inland 70126 Black 107 Normal Keys USB Wired Standard Keyboard / Mouse Combo - $13.79

Acer S201HLbd Black 20" 5ms LED-Backlight LCD monitor 250 cd/m2 ACM 12,000,000:1 (1000:1) - $100

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit - OEM - $100

TOTAL : $712.79 ($672.79 after rebate). This is a perfect example of a COMPLETE BUILD that is decent enough to let you play ALL GAMES on mid settings and some on high settings (depending on game's requirement and resolution you intend to play with).

NOTE : newegg parts and prices.

BTW, this is just an example and you could build an even better gaming PC depending on your budget of course =D

Basically, this is the CHEAPEST decent gaming PC that I could recommend to you.

How can I tell if my computer has the right requirements for a game?

darthmonke

Ok, I want to download Mass Effect 2 on my computer via a torrent. But before I download it I would like to check to make sure that I have the correct computer requirements for the game. Is there any way I can check to see if my computer (which is a Windows Vista, by the way) has the correct requirements to play the game? I greatly appreciate any help.

Answer
You better not be Illegally torrenting games... On start menu, right click My Computer and select properties. Your basic system specs are there. The game needs a graphics card and you may need to buy one. Search the game online or on Steam to check the requirements and compare it to your system.
