What is the best gaming monitor/tv?

Q. Alright, so I'm looking to buy a monitor that:

Can function as both a computer and a TV so I can play my xbox 360 on it and also connect my laptop to it.

Needs to be HD

Needs to have a low video response time (like 5 ms) so that will give me an advantage when I play games online, etc.

Needs to be around 250 bucks or less

Needs to look cool

So basically I'm looking for something like the TV used by pro gamers in MLG tournaments or something along those lines...

So far I've found out about one good monitor, known as the Samsung Syncmaster T220HD, is that my best option? I really want something that will enhance my gaming experience but also give me a bigger advantage when I play online.

TV's or LCD Monitors for easy mobile console gaming?

Jace G

I was wondering if it would make more sense to just get small HDTVs or Wide Screen HD LCD Monitors with HDMI Jacks, to occasionally (maybe a few times a year) set up a Console LAN Party? While I am leaning towards the LCD Monitors (due to the fact that I could use them for work), it really comes down to functionality. Would the HD Monitors (if they had speakers or if they had an optical-out port for speakers) work just as well as the TVs? Because they sure as heck would make it easier on mobility!
Also would there be any other difficulties in the matter that I haven't addressed that could make a difference in choice?

Answer
Get the 25 viewsonic those are MLG approved gaming tvs

O RLY?

What should I look for and ask the people at the store?

Are there certain features that the monitor must have to be able to be hooked up to the Xbox 360, and what are they called?

Answer
if it's an fps game you should get a TV with a short response time and use VGA cables for less lag
i recommend the viewsonic nx2232w(which is what mlg uses) it's a hdtv/monitor, i have one and play halo on it and it's just perfect

where can i buy a viewsonic NX2232W monitor for under 320?

TriX v2

i love gaming especially halo..so i want to take gaming to the next level and purchase a mlg tv which is the viewsonic nx2232w but i dont have much money i have looked all over the web for this tv and it is very hard 2 find for a cheap price i dont really care if it is used or not as long as it works im ok..please people im desperate help me!! thank you

Answer
That one appears to be a discontinued product. It is only available at Amazon and looks overpriced. Consider its replacement at ~ $300:

Are computer monitors good for gaming?

Seemore

I see a lot of famous gaming youtubers using HD computer monitors as their T.V for
gaming, so is it worth it? I know they are
really cheap and high res, and I do prefer small screens, I currently have a 32" 720p
right now. I'm most likely going to use the monitor for the upcoming PS4, should I get it? Pros and cons maybe?

Answer
Monitors are like day and night vs TV's for gaming. They are much better, their input lag is much less so it's much more responsive and quick for gaming. Plus, smaller screen means your eyes don't have to move as much so you see more, which gives you an edge.

If you want the MLG Pro Circuit monitor from 2013 - http://www.amazon.com/BenQ-GL2450HM-24-Inch-Circuit-Console/dp/B006HIKIHO

If that one is too expensive, just make sure to get a monitor with 1920x1080 resolution and less than 5MS response time.
