Best Gaming Monitor?

I just bought a gtx 280 video card for my computer and now i need to upgrade my monitor. Only problem is i dont know what makes a good monitor. I want the BEST Monitor i can get with this card that is in the 300-500 dollar range, and 22" long

Im looking for someone to answer these some or all of these questions:
what is the best type of gaming monitor? (LCD or what)
a good Contrast Ratio for a gtx 280?
a good Pixel Pitch for a gtx 280?
a good Response Time for a gtx 280?
and the best resolution for a gtx 280?

Now i know there are many different answers to the questiosn i asked but i want the answers to follow these guildlines.

1) Monitor in the $300-500 range
2) I dont want my card to be bottle necking my monitor but i dont want my monitor to be bottle necking my card. (I dont know if thats possible but something as close to that).
3) I want to put games on high - max specs so i dont want a jesus monitor that will make me have to put games in low quality.

Any info people can give me, or a monitor that would fit what i want is what im looking for.

Hey, what is the best type of monitor for PC gaming? LCD, HD, or Plasma? I'm going to get a new one in 24 inches. Also, what sort of specs should I look for?

I would suggest purchasing an LCD HD monitor. A 26" is a perfect size for gaming PCs; so you were correct on that, but you should be sure that whatever monitor you choose has an ultra high resolution for quality, high contrast, and is name-brand. I would suggest any Dell 19" and above. Other ideal brands: Acer, HP. Good Luck!

Will old PC games look funny on a widescreen monitor?

I'm thinking about buying a widescreen LCD monitor. Now I've noticed that many games have a resolution setting. So what would happen if I'm playing a game which doesn't support the rectangle resolution that widescreen monitors have? Will the picture get all stretched out? I'm assuming that really old PC games that came out before widescreen monitors were around, such as StarCraft or Quake, don't support those kinds of monitors. So will old games look funny on a widescreen monitor?

Yes they would. There's an option on my LCD monitor that I can show things in original resolution. So for example my monitor supports up to 1280 x 1024, but if I have a game running at 800x600, I can either have it run full screen or original resolution which shows 800x600 in middle of screen with a lot of black around it. If you have that option on your monitor, then you can use it to play games in original resolution without stretching.

The option would be in monitor settings (NOT WINDOWS)

Is there a LCD monitor which can connect to a PS2?

I need to buy an LCD monitor, preferably 21 inch or 22 inch which has connectors for PS2 and preferably PS3 also (though the latter is not important).
I already have a Z-5500 speakers which are said to be the best in pc speakers, I also would like to get an LCD monitor which will make it really cool to play games on with my PS2.

Is PC gaming as good as Xbox 360 or Playsation 3?

Q. I dont want to go out spend hundreds on gaming concoles when i have a new PC that has a 22" lcd monitor. I just want to know if PC gaming is as good as any of the new gaming consoles.

Yes it is because you can get the same games that you get for xbox 360 or playstation 3 . So I'd just go with the computer. But if you want you can get one.
