If you can you have to do this-look for the games icon to click on. right click on it, click the compatibility tab, check the box to run the program in compatibility mode and then select either windows 95 or 98, try that hopefully it works

Does anyone remeber the old windows 98 games that came with the computer such as chip's challenge, tripeaks, that ski game where you have to run away from the abominable snow man, and that game where your a mouse and you have to trap all the cats in blocks? Is there a site where I can download all of those old games or maybe a CD I could by with those games? I have searched and searched and I can't find them.

I've been looking for these games for a while as well. I was able to find chip's challenge though. Just make sure that you extract all the files from the folder or you won't be able to play it.

I have a windows 98 ONLY game, simcity 3000, that i really want to play, but unfortunately, i have XP/vista nowadays, and it will not run. is there any way i can trick it into installing? the problem is when i try to istall it it can't find some componant or another, and wont complete installing, and in fact just freezes up. Any and all hep would be appreciated.

Try right clicking the shortcut of the game -> Properties -> Compatibility mode and try putting it into Windows 98 compatibility mode.

If that fails, try DOSBox. It's designed to run DOS based games (Windows 98 is DOS based with a graphical interface, 2000/NT/XP onwards are not DOS based), and it might work. It's open source and legally free to download.

I'm looking to upgrade my microsoft windows 98 to a gaming computer. I know i need a new moniter and i need to factory reset the hardrive, but what else is there?
I want to change out all the internal components along with getting a TB external hardrive
It is a good computer but just a little old. Basically, I'm going to start all over and get all new components but keep the casing.

Windows 98 is the operating system. It's like the radio in the car. it tells me nothing about the car's performance. OS tells me nothing about the PC's specs. You can have the lousiest junker and still have a 1500 stereo inside.

But the other guy's right... If the computer CAME with Win98, it's like 10 years old. It's be the equivalent of a car with an factory 8-track player. It'd be obsolete.

Right-Click on the game icon, go onto properties, click the box that says 'Run in compatibility mode for Windows 98', or something similar.

Failing that, get windows 98.
