I'm running dual monitors, but when I'm trying to play a game on one screen and watch a movie on the other, I can't move the mouse out of the game screen to pause the movie. Is it possible?
Also, I'm using Ultramon, and I added a hotkey to automatically switch the mouse the other screen. I tried using this during a game, and all it did was move it to the edge of the game screen.

Answer
In theory, yes. The way 99% of dual-monitor set ups are designed, you really only have one "big" desktop. So you should be able to treat your game like just another window. If its possible to play in not full screen, try that. But there should be no reason you can't bring the mouse from your game to the other monitor.

What's the viability of running two videocards over running a videocard with dual monitor output?

A friend asked me to price out a system upgrade for him. One of the features he wants is dual-monitor ability, but on a budget (of course). As far as I know, he isn't looking for high-end gaming or anything like that, but has often spoke of getting into graphics/video editing. Would it be more effective to have two independent videocards or try and get a newer one that had dual monitor capabilities?

Answer
Most newish (past 3/4 years) cards have dual outputs, normal one VGA and another DVI. You could go with 2 new cards, and use the dual outputs of one for the monitors, and you the other in SLI/Crossfire if that works for you.

Hope that helps~

Graphics card that supports dual monitors and would play games like Battlefield 3 and Skyrim?

Woof

I am planning on turning my current computer into a gaming computer. The only component that I really need to upgrade is my current low-end video card. I am looking for something that would be able to support dual monitors (as that is another planed upgrade) and has the power to be able to play games such as Battlefield 3 and Skyrim on high graphical settings. What would be some product suggestions and what price range will I be looking at?

Answer
Nvidia GTX 560 or AMD Radeon 6870. Depends on what you prefer.
