im looking for a good gaming monitor around 14" wide and 12" tall?

collin

im looking for a good gaming monitor around 14" wide and 12" tall i need something around that size a little bigger would be fine but i need it to be pretty square though any help would be great

Answer
You may buy a used one for that format. This is because all new ones are 16:9 or 16:10 wide screen, and the very few that are almost square (4:3 ratio) that are new are scarce and costly.

Answer
games like sims 3 and minecraft dont need much processing/gpu/ram performance, etc. i would substitute that i3 3220 and get the celeron g1610 instead with a better cooler, this will be about 58 dollars or so which is still about 60 dollars cheaper than the i3 3220 while still being good for sims 3 and minecraft ( you will not experience lag with this cpu ), you can save money by getting a cheaper motherboard, i would get 4gb of ram instead and save over 35 dollars while not affecting performance as sims 3 and minecraft only need max of 2gb memory for optimum performance, i would ditch the gtx 650ti as the 650 ti is way overboard for the games you want to play and expensive, the gt 640 would be a good replacement and will play both games on high settings with that celeron g1610 cpu and 4gb ram, save even more money and get the nzxt source 210 mid tower case, this is about the cheapest you can go for a good quality case, you dont need all those extra fans and such, even if your case didnt have any fans, it wouldn't really make a big difference in reliability, the nzxt 210 does have one 120mm rear fan though i would put it in the top front as there is an option to mount one there, this is a good area to put your hard drive where the fan can blow cool air right against it and also a little cool air can pass to cool your gpu as well thats almost adjacent to the drive. so if you can do that, remove the 120mm rear fan of the case and put it on the top front part where the mounts are, make sure that its blowing inside the case and not outwards, and also make sure that when plugging this fan into the motherboard, that its plugged into one of the 4 pin headers which are labeled usually as cha_fan1 / cha_fan2 .., for cpu, it will say something like cpu_fan1 and make sure that when plugging that alpine 11 plus cooler, that it goes into that 4 pin cpu header (also it has pre applied thermal paste so you dont need to worry about that). for psu, 430 watts would have been a little too low for your original configuration but for this configuration, its alright, however i would still get a slightly higher wattage psu so that the psu doesnt have to work as hard and fans are quieter then, the enermax 500w psu is 43 dollars shipped if you dont live in california which is pretty good and its a 80 plus certified psu like the corsair, for operating system, just go with windows 7 64 bit home premium, unless you want windows 8, i wont change your opinion on that, but in my opinion win 7 is simpler, easier to use, and just as good as win 8, for hard drive, i would've recommended you a ssd somewhere the lines of 64 - 128gb as your main and ONLY drive but since most people these days need a lot of space, then just go with ONLY a wd blue 500gb, for monitor, you can go with a slightly cheaper one with good quality still. note, that you didnt mention other stuff like wifi card (if internet connection is wireless or wired ethernet), keyboard and mouse, or dvd rom, so i wont post these for you, il post all the other stuff though, LET ME KNOW IF any of the links dont work or the items are not available and then i could give alternatives in either the answer or comment section later-

How many monitors can I connect to my laptop?

gaming monitor ebay

I have only one Monitor port on my Laptop, I want to connect 2 Is it possible ? If yes, how could i do ? My laptop is a Hp Pavillion Dv6.

Answer
You can connect 2 to you r monitor but, you would have to use a signal splitter. The problem with this is that you can only set one resolution for both monitors, so if one is a different size it will look distorted, and you can only clone the same image, so if you wanted the functionality of multiple displays that can display different things, you can't.

All is not lost if you want the functionality though. You can get a USB to DVI or USB to D-Sub adapter. There are fairly new, relatively cheap, and work great as long as you're not trying to game on it. Just search google or ebay and you'll fine tons of options. You can have as many unique displays as you do USB ports!

hope that helps

How can I connect my Xbox to my monitor and my sound system?

Randy

I need to connect it to my monitor through the HDMI input and to my sound system by the red and white audio cables. Is there an adapter like that somewhere?
(also the sound system is 10ft away from the monitor)

Thanks!
ALSO, my xbox does not have an HDMI output

Answer
Ok, you need a vga converter box follow the following links...

http://www.amazon.com/VGA-Monitor-Input-Convertor-Selector/dp/B000JCLLUW/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=musical-instruments&qid=1231379773&sr=8-1

or

and you need a Xbox 360 VGA HD AV Cable you can get a official xbox one from the following link for lowest price (around 8$)

http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-COMPONENT-HD-AV-VGA-CABLE-FOR-MICROSOFT-XBOX-360_W0QQitemZ280296815621QQcmdZViewItemQQptZVideo_Games_Accessories?hash=item280296815621&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2%7C65%3A15%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1308

once you have both thoes items, you can connect you xbox to your monitor. But, if you want sound you have to get a Male to Male rca cable for left and right audio. (this cable is really cheap 5$)

http://cgi.ebay.com/6ft-RCA-STEREO-AUDIO-PATCH-MALE-CABLE-CORD-FOR-TV-DVD_W0QQitemZ390022394304QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item390022394304&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A1%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50

when you get thoes 3 items the setup is fairly simple but there are guides online.
email me if you have any questions.

What specs and configuration could you suggest for gaming PC?

gaming monitor ebay
on Best Gaming Computer - Let Me Buy
gaming monitor ebay image

Nusferatu

I'm planning to configure a gaming PC and im confused about the specs of gaming PCs,could someone be kind to share tyheir knowledge about computers?
Here are some of my criteria:
-The price first and foremost, preferrably affordable and cheap not neccessarily branded.
-Hard Drive?
-Processor?
-RAM?
-Graphics card?

Answer
Ok so it's a gamer you want......
MOBO: Gigabyte EX38 chipset or newer
CPU: Intel Q9450 or higher
RAM: (here's the debate: if you use a 64bit OS get as much ram as you can. If you use a 32 bit OS your stuck with 4 GB) I used a 64 bit OS Windows 2008 Server x64 and I have 8GB of G-Skill PC2-1000 Ram, Make sure your RAM has a speed equal to or higher than the FSB speed of the CPU it will help decrease the bottlenecking problem for the data speed from the CPU to the RAM
Cooling: I prefer fans over liquid, but it is truly about choice.
Hard Drive: 3 in total 1) 80GB Western Digital SATA II (for OS only)
2) 1.5 TB Western Digital SATA II (Docs, photos,
and anything else you want to put on it.
3) 1.5 TB Western Digital SATA II ( Movies, or
virtual drives for your games)
Graphics card: I am a ATI fan and love the new HD series cards, but make sure it has a minimum of 512 MB of RAM on board and a cooling fan. I have two GPU's on my system and I run 4 monitors.

Now what I just listed if you bought it retail would run you about 3500.00 to 5500.00. Dependent on your location. I built this system last year and I spent just over 1500.00. I can now buy all of this stuff for well under 900.00. USE EBAY!!!! I have since learned how to find great deals on EBAY and love it. But if you don't have the cash don't bid. Make sure you also have a good power supply in your rig, I used an Antech Quatro True Power 850 Watt PSU. It is not cheap but it is worth it to have the power there when you need it.

If you want to build it your self have fun, it is a great and rewarding experience to build your own system, but if you don't want to build it your self, send an email to jdptechnology@yahoo.com, they will build what you want and do it cheap. I know this for fact because they just built a system for a friend and it had a diamond viper Graphics card with 512MB RAM on the card and had a n ECS MOBO with a Q6600 CPU and 4 GB's of ram and memory card reader and a DVD burner for under 400.00. It is a sweet machine.
