Is it possible to build a gaming pc for under a grand? This computer will be used from graphic design/multimedia (flash video creation, photoshop, etc.) It will also be playing games such as WoW, Portal 2, and maybe even Crysis 2. Any recommendation on how this could be done would be greatly appreciated. If you believe the system I'm looking for will cost over 1,000 please explain why. And thank you!

Answer
Yes, It is, IF you choose the right spec and build it your self. And If by "under a grand" you mean under 1000 $, here's my recommendation :

AMD Phenom II X4 955 3,2 ghz
MoBo Biostar TA890GXB
HDD 1TB WD
RAM DDR3 2x2 GB
XFX HD6850 GPU
PSU CORSAIR pure 600W

In total, it's about 8.2 million rupiahs....roughly US$950, includes the chassis, DVD Drive, logitech Mouse+Keyboard & logitech Speaker. US$1070 with windows 7 home premium. (Excluding the Monitor)

Yeah maybe that price is a bit...high, but you'll be able to play heavy games like crysis 2 on full HD and high settings without lags or something like that.

Also, these I got these price from a local store here in Indonesia. You might be able to find cheaper ones online, or where you live.

How much should a PC with these specs cost?

I am looking for a new gaming monitor and the specs i wanted were 2ms respons time, 120hz and a few other minor things. Yesterday i found a monitor that met all of them exept it was only 76hz. I am going to be playing games lime minecraft and possibly batlefield 4, do you think that 76hz is enough?

Answer
Yeah even 60 hz is enough. And it's mine craft you don't need a high hz, but with battle field 76 should be fine.

Hey. I bought a HP PC last year, and now I really want to play games for real. I've been playing games with the original graphics card, the Intel HD card, and it has normal fps for my games. About 20-25 fps. But I want it to go higher. What would be the best but cheapest graphics card for my computer?

These are the specs:

System Specs:
System Model: HP Pavillion Desktop PC: P6715f
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU
5GB RAM @ 3.20 GHz
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit

Display Specs:
Intel(R) HD Graphics
Dedicated Video Ram: 128MB
1920x1080
Generic PnP Monitor

These specs were found under dxdiag.
Anyway, so whats the best of the cheapest graphic cards? I was thinking a graphics card with at least 1gb dedicated ram? My price range is maximum $200

Answer
I don't know if your okay with nvidia but here it is http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130910 I don't know if you comfortable with ordering online so anyway, its on sale for about $180 dollars and its pretty good, don't worry about PCI-E 3.0 it will work with 2.0 and 1.0. hope this helps.....Man I might get this for an upgrade

What specs should i look for in a new computer?

I am planning to buy a new computer, specifically for gaming. I don't want to spend a lot of money buying a gaming computer, so what should I look for in a regular Vista computer?

Answer
Well, gaming totally depends on graphic processing unit (GPU), processor (CPU) and also RAM. If u don't want to spend too much money, I will recommand u to buy a cheaper motherboard and RAM but focus more on Graphic card and the processor.

Motherboard : Nvidia nForce 630i
Processor : Intel core 2 duo or core 2 Quad, maybe core 2 extreme
Ram : DDR 2 800Mhz / 1066Mhz
Hard disk : 320/640GB (If u want the game to load faster, try to configured the hard disk in RAID 0 arrays.)
GPU : Ati: Ati HD 4850
Nvidia : Nvidia Geforce 9600GSO
Nvidia Geforce Gtx260
Nvidia Geforce 8800 GT/GTS/GTX/Ultra
Nvidia Geforce 9800 GT
Monitor : 22" monitor with 1920*1080 (HD)

What are pros and cons of gaming desktops vs gaming laptops?

I would like pros and cons of both. At the end tell me which one is better for me. Probably 400-700 price range and very light gaming. 4 games as of now but may try more. Star Wars the Old Republic (when it comes out), Star Wars KOTOR2, Star Wars Empirexat War, and Zoo Tycoon complete collection. May try more though but not a huge PC fan but im startin to get into it.

Answer
Desktop
Pros: Fast, Reliable (with a steady power source), Great amounts of storage vs pricing, Good Graphics, and everything about it is externally plugged into it (no track pad/built in keyboard), and you have the option to upgrade to better parts (more RAM, better CPU, better graphics card etc.)
Cons: It's not portable, lag can still hit you hard with some higher end spec games, and generally while everything can be externally plugged into (mouse, keyboard, speakers, monitor etc.) you can do this with a laptop as well. Also, if you lose power suddenly, there goes your games current state, back to your most recent save (or further depending on how bad the crash is.)
Laptop
Pros: Portable, Can survive with no power source long enough to save a game.
Cons: Graphics aren't really meant for gaming, generally slower, and unless you buy external devices (keyboard, mouse etc.) you have a set screen size and no mouse, making gaming a pain. All the parts are pretty standard, so you can't change them out, meaning whatever it can run, it can run. And what it can't, it can't. I think the only interchangeable part in my laptop is the RAM and HD, so it's pretty set on graphics and sound limitations.

But, based on the games you've listed, for 400 - 700, either will be fine really. The only game you may have problems running is Star Wars the Old Republic, as it's not out yet, and probably will have high end requirements that most laptops won't meet (I'm on a 600 dollar laptop, an acer, and I can run most games, even things like Oblivion, Minecraft and several other 'high end' games with little to no lag on default settings.) But, if you're looking for more for you money, go with a desktop, as you can always upgrade them later on.
