Tv vs lcd monitor for gaming?

Q. I was recently wondering What is better for gaming and less delay. Ussually delay is not noticed by regular day to day gamers but it is crutial when playing a first person shooter.
I was wondering what a typical response time is for a xbox 360 hooked to a lcd tv vs a game consle hooked up to a lcd computer monitor. I am a hardcore gamer and I want to have the least delay possible.I really want a bigger screen size but I will sacrifice screen size over performance by buying a monitor if necessary. I have heard of the newer tv's with a (game mode) but I am skeptical if it is the m/s response time of a monitor. If anyone can help me ty.

Answer
I have a big deal for you, Panasonic TC-L32X2 LCD HDTV 32 inches for just $329 or Panasonic TC-L37X2 LCD HDTV 37 inches for just $459 with game mode feature available in both of them the dark images in video games are more clear, besides it offers a wide viewing angle 178° so you can view the full image even if you' re not facing the screen. You'll enjoy playing video games using Panasonic HDTV.
My large experience in TVs lets me tell you do not miss this purchase if you look for gaming TV.

Monitor vs Television for gaming?

Q. So I'm about to purchase a monitor, or a television on Newegg and was wondering; would there be much of a difference in comparison between a television and monitor, in 1080p/720p is hooked up by an HDMI cord? I can save nearly $100 if I go with the monitor, so I would like to know if there would be. Thanks for any help, if I get some.

Answer
Nope, not if they're both HD and have HDMI inputs (and any other inputs you want/need). The main difference will be that a monitor doesn't have a tuner in it and a few other features that come with modern day TVs such as built-in wireless, apps, cable and satellite functions and setups, etc.

LCD Monitor vs LCD TV?

Q. I wanted to know if their was a actual difference in using a LCD monitor to a LCD TV, although the tv cost a bit more im willing to pay for it. My question is, is their a big difference between the two when using it as a PC monitor, cause i would like a TV without using a TV pc tuner card even though i have one.

The only difference i see is the refresh time between both of them, but what would be better for Gaming via PC and PS3 (both have HDMI,DVI,VGA) as well as using for uni assignments as in Hours of usage.

Their both 1920x1080 full HD

Answer
Go with the TV. better response time for better gaming, and you get more than just one use out of it. But the Response time is the biggest difference that will improve your gaming experience

ps3 monitor vs ps3 tv?

Paxio Maci

i think i got a 14 or 15' monitor and a 32' tv and i have my ps3 connected to my monitor hdmi to dvi NOW my tv comany claims that my tv has hdmi ports but i dont see any so where should i plug my ps3 to my monitor or my tv AND my pc has 5.1 surround sound on so when i plug my ps3 to my tv i wont get surround sound but! on my pc for some reason doesnt use the surround sound so the surround sound would be more useful on tv and on my tv i can play psmove cuz i have more space to play so its 15' surround sound vs 32' optional surround sound and psmove

Answer
i would you suggest you can go with Star Ocean: The Last Hope International
If you love good RPG games star ocean is one of the best. I played the last one for ps2 and loved it so I had high hopes for this. Turns out it lived up to everything and more. I played this for xbox but recently purchased a ps3. The Major difference that I see is that this game is all on one disk unlike the xbox version which you had to keep switching disk. That alone is enough for me to purchase this game for ps3. Gameplay wise this game is too good from its active battle systems to the very likeable characters and its quest and storyline. Any person who enjoys RPG's as much as i do should love this game. 5 stars all the way!!

Is it true that when you play playstation 3 games on a regular TV the graphics are really crappy?

Peter

I want to buy a Playstation 3, but I keep on hearing people saying that on a normal TV the graphics are similar PS2 graphics. I would like to know whether that's true. And are XBox 360 graphics better?

Thanx a lot.

Answer
The People are wrong. Yes, it will look crappy compared to a HD TV/Monitor, but it still has way better graphics than PS2. The problem with a normal TV is mainly the pixels and the resolution. With such big pixels, the picture builds up with rainbow colors because the pixels are so big. Multiple colors are stranded in one large pixel. With HD TV, the Res is much bigger, stretching the picture for widescreen effect. and the pixels are much smaller, so it looks a lot more cleaner.

So, if you want to play PS3 games right now without a HD TV, great. Just know you are not going to get as great graphics as you would on a HD. If you have a monitor, you can hook PS3 up to it. Make sure your monitor has a DVI cable in the back. If you do, great. Go to a local electronic sore and find a DVI to HDMI cable. Now you just need to worry about sound. I got wireless headphones that connect to my PS3 with Fiber Optics. That also give me true sound.

P.S.

PS3 over Xbox (graphics provided as well):

1. Free internet use (Xbox you have to pay for live...)
2. Online store ( lots of games, demos, movies and more to download.)
3. Blu-Ray (Xbox got screwed with their HD DVD)
4. Built-in Wierless internet (You have to buy an adapter for Xbox)
5. Can have multible OS (Ubuntu 8.0!)
6. Qore: Like IGN for PS3 (I use it for latest update for games and Beta releases)
7. PS3 Home. Interactive Sim ( not out yet, but it will be sick. You can build your own house, and play tons of games with your friends. There will we a lot of features for PS3 Home.)
8. Metal Gear 4 ( Best story line ever!)
9. SOCOM: Confrontation (Best online game ever!)
10. Web Cam for PS3 for chat use (Use cam with friends and chat away. It also has built-in audio)
11. Can use Keyboard and Mouse for PS3 (use to browes the web and chat durring games. also can use for your other OS)
12. Web Browser (Xbox does not have one)
13. Light controller taht fit right in your hands (Love it because they charge fast and they are sooo light!)
14. Media (can use most memory cards to transfer files) SD CARD
15. External HDD with FAT32 (Has to be FAT32 I am afraid . But works)
16. Backwards compatible with PS1 and PS2 if you dont get 40GB

and much more!

Graphics:
PS3 and Xbox: Same graphics
Wii: Crappy graphics

Wii and PS3 have movement control. For PS3, you can move your controller around to interact with some games. I use it for Ghost Recon. When I get into fire, I jolt my controller forward making my guy slide to the ground for cover. Also Warhak, you can control flight by moving controller.

What kind of HDTV is the best for gaming?

Michael

I am curious as to what kind of HDTV (Plasma, LCD, DLP) is the best for gaming. Of the TV's I've played on, most of them have a noticeable response time (time from button press to action happening on screen). This really limits how well an FPS can be played.

To this point i've stuck with playing my 360 on my computer monitor, but really want to get an HDTV. Are there any TV's out there that have great response times?

Answer
CRT's probably are the fastest in terms of response time, but they lack true High Definition which most gamers like. From my use of all 3 technologies, LCD, Plasma and DLP, the fastest response times still come from a Plasma television. The newer LCD's are catching up, but Plasma still beats them IMHO. If you want, you can check out some review articles on Plasma vs. LCD at the website I refer to below. I have bought a Plasma based on their reviews myself.

How do I tell if a TV is PAL 60 compatible?

gaming monitor vs tv image
Q. I bought a new Xbox 360 and my Kinect games are only compatible if the Xbox is in the "PAL 60" display mode but when it is in PAL 60 mode on my old-ish analog TV it goes all blurry and bad quality. I would like to now if there is a way to tell if a TV is compatible with the PAL 60 mode so i can buy a new one from cash converters or something.

Answer
If your TV does not support PAL 60 the video should go completely; at least with my experience of PAL 50 vs PAL 60. You should be running the 360 of a HD display, this does not have to cost you, for example you can pick up a good size LCD monitor for $200AU 22'' - then grab a MS VGA cable hook it up and your all set; try to avoid cash converters they are for the most part rip off merchants. Any newish CRT tv built since like say 2000 will be PAL 60 compat.

Are frames per second on a computer game relative to physical screen size or only resolution?

Nik

Im wondering if FPS will change depending on the physical size of the screen
i.e using a 42" tv vs a 20" monitor assuming same resolution

Answer
The physical screen size won't matter.

The FPS will go down if you increase the resolution, from 1024x768 to 1280x1024, for example.
