If it had had H/V then it could be played on either a horizontal or vertical monitor. JAMMA stands for Japan Amusement Machinery Manufacturers Association - the company that produces the games. My specs are a 17 2600 a Gtx 680 2gb but I will be upgrading it to the Gtx 880 as soon as it comes out. I also have 8 GB of ram and 1TB hard drive and am using a 27 1080p monitor right now but I will like to upgrade it to one of these since am going to get a Gtx 880

That resolution needs some serious horsepower for gaming. If you just want to use it for movies or other stuff then it's okay. But for gaming, you will need a Radeon HD 7970 or something like that for reasonable fps with high settings in many games today.

I would personally just opt for a 1080p monitor as it is more than enough and will be for years to come. But if you really want to buy the bigger resolution monitors, I would suggest the 1440p one as the lag will be lower.

Also check out the brightness and other image settings and see which one has better specs there.

Monitor for gaming computer?

So I decided to build a gaming computer. I have pretty much decided on everything except the monitor. This will be for many different games such as WoW, SWTOR, BF3, half-life, assassin's creed and others. I was interested in getting one of those korean 2560x1440 monitors but I was wondering if I should use 3 monitors instead. I can't afford to get 3 2560x1440 monitors, but I could get 1920x1080. Would you suggest multiples monitors or the one monitor?

Personally, I think three monitors is great when you play realistic flight simulators, racing games, etc. When you play FPS like BF3, you want everything to be in your eyesight in order to react quickly, and having three monitors WILL make it hard to react or see things. If I were you I would go with one high res monitor, may be a second one for miscellaneous things, like switching music during gameplay or chatting on FB or whatever.

27" vs 24" gaming/editing monitor?

so I'm getting a pc soon and it's going to be used for everything from heavy gaming to editing in photoshop and Sony Vegas. I have the necessary specs for what I want. Now all I need is the monitor and I have no idea what to do. The 1440p monitors are WAY too expensive. I have heard however about those Korean brands...but I'm scared to try those out. I really want a 27 inch monitor (preferably Ips) but I guess 24" is fine. I haven't really made up my mind. My budget is 350 and less. Any suggestion? Personal experiences? Anything helps.

For hybrid gaming/editing use, the best monitor you could get would be an IPS-panel with 1920x1200 (16:10) resolution at 24". Never buy a TN-panel.

A 27" IPS-monitor with 2560x1600 (or 2560x1440) will be a problem in heavy games due to the high resolution (requires more power, or a non-native resolution choice). It also costs more (but would be the best option for editing).

Two good (and cheap) 24" monitors that I can personally recommend (tried both):
* DELL U2412M ULTRASHARP (24").
* HP ZR2440W (24").
Find the best/cheapest online computer store you trust, list IPS-panels by price, and look at the cheapest ones that has 1920x1200 resolution. That is a good starting point.

dead pixel korean monitor?

I am interested in getting one of the 2560x1440 27 inch korean monitors. Basically, the non-pixel-perfect ones are $300 and the pixel-perect ones are about $370. I am trying to decide whether it matters to me or not. I'd like to hear from people that have had these monitors with dead pixels. How many do you have and does it bother you? Can you only see it sometimes or is it always visible? I am going to do a lot of gaming on it and I heard you can't really see it then (but I am also going to be browsing). Another thing; light bleeding. Is this common and what does it look like? Is it very annoying?
