Why my pc lags when playing games on higher settings and sometimes screen tears?

TetraMisc

My PC is:
AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 920 Processor 2.80GHz
2.00GB of RAM
32-bit Operating System
Running on Windows7 HP SP1
Graphics Adapter: ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series.

My PC keeps lagging on Skyrim, GTA4, Battlefield 3, FNV and CoD MW3 when I higher abit my grapchis settings and screen tears on any setting abit on GTA 4 and Skyrim and few other games. What should I do?

Sorry for any misspelling.

Answer
Hello

This is normal, your graphics card is an entry level card, it is not capable of playing such high intense games at high settings. You have to play these particular games at low-medium settings to get smooth gameplay experience. Or get a better card like HD 6850 to run these games at high.

Hope This Helps!!!

Skyrim on PC problem. Can't see (screen tearing?)?

name

I downloaded Skyrim from Steam, but as soon as I start a game I get what I think is screen tearing. The loading screen looks fine and so do the menus. Its only when I'm in the game itself. For example, when I'm in the cart at the beginning of the game, I can't see anything but "shard" like things flickering. Here is a link to a screenshot of what it looks like (http://i3.minus.com/i7uwF7XjyTjcc.jpg). One second later, it might look like this (http://i3.minus.com/ibtMFUE3xa6wJj.jpg).

I tried waiting it out to see if it stopped, but it continued and made it impossible to design a character (as I can't see).

Any help would be appreciated as I don't know where to being fixing this problem. Thanks.

Here are my system specs:
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
Intel Pentium CPU, P6200 at 2.13GHz.
RAM 6GB.
DirectX version 11

Answer
From the pictures it looks like either your video card cannot handle the game or the card or driver is corrupted and needs to be replaced.

You don't list what your video card is or how much VRAM it has.

I also suspect you may be a bit low on computer capability as well as Skyrim works much better on a quadcore CPU. The P6200 at 2 GHz is barely capable of running Skyrim on its absolutely lowest settings.

Does disabling the Aero feature increase performance in Windows 7?

I have heard that disabling Aero increases your PC's performance, and personally I like the look of Windows without Aero. But I noticed in some games when I have Aero disabled I get screen tearing, but when I have Aero enabled, there is no screen tearing. I have a 60 Hz monitor & an nvidia GTX 560. So does disabling Aero actually increase performance? Thanks for all answers.

Answer
i have noticed on low end pcs that disabling areo does improve performance . , as for improving games i have no idea . . . I wud asume it would tho . , depends on ur pc set up pal

What just happened to my eyes while staring at the computer screen?

ghost_walk

I was looking at the computer screen surfing the internet despite my eyes are a little teary and tired when suddenly there was a flash of blinding light and there was pain in my left eye. Something like this also happened to a person I know. He was playing PC games when suddenly it happened and after that he had a headache and was absent from school.

I was relieved that I could still see and this is why I am asking yahoo answers and get to the bottom of this. Could anyone explain this to me?

Answer
This depends how long have you been staring at the screen?
When you stare at a tv or computer we tend to blink less which can cause pain from not blinking and tears. The flash of light is normal to but the best thing to do is put tear drops in both eyes and rest them. There is no serious damage. Your eyes should be back to normal. Just try not to stare at the screen so much. Hope this is helpful!

It seems like every game i play on my PC i get screen tearing and the only way to solve it is to turn on Vsync. The problem with Vsync is it destroys my FPS. Is there anything i can do to stop this from happening? Or is there not considering every game has this Vsync option so i can't be the only one?

Monitor
Samsung SyncMaster P2450
2MS response time
1080P resolution
60Hz

PC
8GB RAM
Intel core i5 2500k overclocked @ 4.3 GHz
1TB HDD
MSI Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition (Factory overclocked @ 1000 MHz)

My specs in case i need to change something.
It depends on the game. For example, when i play Tribes Ascend my FPS gets locked at 30 with Vsync.

Answer
I honestly cant see why Vsync would destroy your fps with those stats...
My computer isnt much better than yours and I have no issues with Vsync on any game

My Dell XPS M1530 will get a blank white screen and shut down randomly or when I launch any PC games?

Markus Rus

I'll be just randomly browsing, be on netflix, or launch a PC game and the lap top gets blank white "tear" screen, goes "pewwwwwwww" and just shuts off. Clearly it shouldn't be doing this, anyone know what's going on or know how to fix it?

Answer
It might be related to a failed computer fan. If you boot up to play games, this consumes a considerable amount of electricity and heats your laptop up. Without a good cooling system, the electrical connections gets short-circuited and shuts down your laptop.
You may, however, try to clear the CMOS and reboot using the following procedure:

Procedure to Clear the CMOS

Laptop users can set the CMOS to its default settings by accessing the BIOS setup screen. Depending on the model of the laptop, the BIOS setup utility can usually be accessed by booting up your computer and tapping on the F1, F2, DEL, ESC or F10 keys while the computer boots up. Usually, it's either the F2 or DEL keys. You can refer to your laptop computer's manual on how to do this on your particular model. Some laptops display which key to press while booting up.

You will know if you are successful when you see a blue screen, black and white screen or similar simple interface with menus. Your mouse will not usually work so you will need to use the keyboard arrow keys.

Find the CMOS setup selection by selecting the menu and reset the CMOS values ot the default setting or an option to load the fail-safe defaults. Once you have chosen to load the default settings, you will be asked to select between a Yes and a No or Esc option. Of course, you should press Y to confirm. Once the default values have been loaded, make sure that you save and exit the setup screen. The computer will reboot. You should see your screen back to normal.

If it doesn't work, the problem is hardware related.

What causes input lag and screen tearing on pc games?

Bullwinkle

i have a decent pc, but most of the games just deosn't feel that smooth even on lower settings. Im not saying its lag, i get minimum 40 fps, but when for example i move mouse fast it got a little delay, why it cant be so smooth like in quake 3 ? And no i have not v sync enabled.

Answer
If you don't have V-sync enabled, that would be why.

When you move around a lot, the screen is moving the particles on the screen at different frame rates (which causes screen tear). V-sync locks the FPS of all the pixels of the screen, so that none are moving faster than another.
