How to make PC monitor smaller (for gaming)?

Fredrick

I have a 20 inch monitor and It gives me headaches because of the big screen. So I want to add black bars like they do in movies to make it smaller. Yes, I want to ADD black bars rather than removing black bars. And I can't just move my chair back for such reasons. I play Halo 4 on my PC monitor and the screen is just too big.

Anyway I tried making it smaller from my PC monitor button settings. But I've only had it go small only on the left side for only like 1/4 of an inch.

By the way, if you don't know what I'm talking about, I'm talking about letterboxing and pillarboxing. Search it up on Google images if you don't know what that is.

Any and all help will be appreciated!

BTW I'm new to PC monitor gaming so sorry if this is a dumb question. Cheers! <3
I've tried both of those already. And I don't play PC games, I play xbox games and they don't have resolution modes

Answer
You can adjust the game screen resolution.
or
in monitors we have buttons to adjust the geometry of the screen

Recommend a good PC gaming monitor?

Jeff B

Can anyone recommend a good PC Gaming monitor for around $150 to $200?

Answer
Those old CRT monitors are surprisingly good for gaming, as they can support higher refresh rates. I'm using an old Dell 19" and it rocks!

My Acer LCD wide screen pc monitor (model H233H) has 1 hdmi input, 1 dvi w/ hdcp input, and 1 vga input. I doesn't have an audio output but it does have built in speakers.

I want to buy a playstation 2 to play some games that came out a few years ago and also because it's affordable. I can't afford a ps3 right now.

Answer
You have a good chance of going to a local computer store (the kind that build computers) and talk with one of them and see if they have in stock or can design you a cable that connects from the PS2 to the HDMI or DVI or VGA input.

How to capture Xbox 360 gameplay from my pc monitor?

pakiballer

I want to capture my xbox 360 game play footage to make a video. I play on a Pc monitor using VGA cables and i have a laptop to connect the capture card to. I need help on figuring out what to buy in order to capture my game play. Thanks.
Keep in mind that im using a VGA for my video input. Also links to the products would be nice. Thanks

Answer
a capture card will suffice. But if you don't want to spend extra money you can videotape it with a camcorder...

I'm sure you mean like if there's a program that you can download so the computer can "videotape" itself

I'm sure there's probably something like that out there but i dunno what it's called

So i was hoping to be able to use my RGB PC monitor. But obviously i need some sort of special adapter. I think ive seen one before anyway. So can someone specify what adapter or lead of whatever it is i need to play xbox 360 games from my console using my monitor like you would for a TV.

Answer
I'd recommend the 360 to VGA cable sold at http://www.geekquipment.com/video-game-cables.html

I've been using it for a while to play my 360 on my monitor; It's always worked really well for me.
