PC Monitor vs TV for gaming?

Anthony

Which is a higher quality picture, a pc monitor or tv for a ps3?
(About a 24' to 28' tv/monitor)
Also is there any benefits from one or the other besides image quality?

Answer
TV is better for gaming. Nowadays smart TV's are specially made for gaming and the sound effect is better in TV.

What TV or monitor is used to use withe Cable, PC, and Game system?

I wanna know what Monitor or TV i can use to plag PS3 and use my desktop and be able to watch cable on it. i seen it before but idk what it is like its monito which you can switch channel to pick whether you want desktop, cable or the game????

Answer
I do that with my TV: http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f347/armchairaviator/computer/IMG_0880c.jpg

My TV is a 50-inch Sony Bravia LCD HDTV, which has three HDMI inputs.

One HDMI port is connected to my PC using a DVI-to-HDMI cable (which as you can see in the photo works perfectly).

Another HDMI port is connected to my digital HD cable box for watching TV.

The third HDMI port is connected to my game console.

All I need to do to switch between the PC, the cable box and the console is hit the input select button on the TV remote control.

I wished my TV has more HDMI ports. When I upgrade to a better TV in the future, I'm getting one with 120Hz refresh rate and at least 4 HDMI ports.

if i play a PC game, and im using my tv as the monitor, how will the game run, will it effect it an anyway?

Answer
You shouldn't notice a difference, though higher resolutions might affect the game's frame rate because it's more work to draw each frame. (A physically larger screen with the same number of pixels won't make a difference.)

My new tv is a magnavox, and it is a 32" LCD. I also bought a new computer, and i think it would be cool to be able to play PC games on the bigscreen. also, just regular internet browsing would be nice to do on the big screen as well.

If you can help me at all, thank you very much.
What does the plug on the TV look like? color? shape?

Answer
The only problem in connecting a PC to a TV is the connectors. See below for link to connector types.

http://www.digitalconnection.com/FAQ/HDTV_2.asp

HDMI, DVI, Component and VGA will carry HDTV signals. Composite and S will not.
So, do you have connectors on the TV and PC that match?
In some cases, you can convert from one type to another easily. In other cases, you need a converter.

Many PCs do not have any TV out connector except the VGA connector that normally connects to the monitor. In that case, you may need to add a video board to your PC. Without knowing anything nmore about your PC and TV, this is all I can tell you. email me with your connector data.

Does screen size affect computer performance or is it just resolution that does this?

Im planning on buying a tv to replace my 22" 1080p computer screen, this tv will be used for xbox gaming, pc gaming and TV.
My question is; if i decide to get a (just an example) 27" 1080p TV will my computer slow down whilst playing games?

TL;DR: Does screen size affect computer performance or is it just resolution

Answer
Just the resolution.

The computer uses absolutely the same amount of computing power to drive a 70" HDTV at 1920x1080 resolution as a 21" 1920x1080 desktop monitor. Both displays have 2,073,600 pixels that need to be processed.

If your computer can run stuff decently on a 1920x1080 desktop monitor, it will run it exactly the same way on a big-screen 1920x1080 HDTV.

Go for it!

A good gaming monitor for someone on a budget?

Carson

I need a gaming monitor and I have found an excellent 'BenQ' monitor. However, it was out of my budget, around $300. My desk isn't the biggest so it would be nice if it is smaller. The price range im hoping to get one for is around $150, if they have a decent gaming one for that price. Thank you!

Answer
I use Sony Playstation 3D display. I play PS3 and my pc games on it all the time. It's also good for watching movies. It also works with Cable TV. It comes with 3D glasses and a ps3 game. Not sure if that's what you're looking for. It's a 24" display with full HD and I think that the price is around 200 or so. I got it last year on a sale for 100 and I like it. If you don't have a ps3, you could sell the game and glasses. Hope I helped
