best gaming computer for 1 000 image

Is it cheaper to build a computer or buy one from the manufacturer? I was thinking of buying a good gaming computer around $1,000 U.S Dollars.

Get specs from the pc you want to buy, go to newegg.com and add up the price of all its parts, to get a comparison. I'd guess it's pretty close either way. I like to build, then you get exactly what you want, and you can likely get better warranties on some of the vital parts too. Like evga, gives lifetime warranty on their graphics cards. Don't assume the maker has chosen the best parts for you, they'll cut corners in ways you may regret later.

Im looking for a new gaming computer for Christmas. The games i would mostly play on it is total war games and such. I also do not have much money so im trying to keep it under a $1,000 and also i dont want to put it together myself because i wont have much time for that. Thanks

I really hate it when people say that they can't build their own gaming PC because they don't have time. Come on, you have time to play games but you can't spare some time to build a PC? It will take you less than 2 hours to build a PC + another 2 hours to install the programs. Really, exert a little effort since you'll be using a PC for a long time. If you get a pre-built, you'll get a PC that has much weaker gaming capability.
This would be able to play any game on max-ultra.

Add a Windows 7 64-Bit OEM + an opticall drive and you can get it for $980
If you get a prebuilt for around the same price, you'll get something like this
