Answer
That's a pretty beast system. It's similar to the one I use, although I'd recommend beefing up your processor to an AMD 3+ 8 core. It's what I'm using now and whew, is it amazing. Plus, I just prefer AMD.
That Mobo might not be compatible with it, but if so you can go ROG (Republic of Gamers) They have some awesome gaming mobos.
I went for the same memory manufacturer, just a bigger size. Corsair is bloody amazing, nuff' said.
As for the Razer stuff, they make some pretty neat products, but it's basically just eye candy. You can opt for a cheap keyboard and mouse and so long as they're not wireless, you should see almost no change in your gaming. Personally, I like eye candy so I went with razer anyways.
If possible you should hardline that monster, that's just my opinion but being wireless will lag you a bit.
Get an aftermarket heatsink. You definitely want one of those to keep your processor cool. Zahlman makes a really awesome orb heatsink that works great, but it's a bit of a beast in terms of size.
Don't listen to any idiot that tries to sell you on water cooling being superior. Yes, they may cool a little better, but not exceedingly more than a heatsink. Watercooling is more of a hobby than anything.

EDIT: Two things, Stick with windows 7, 8 is still patchy and not very game friendly, you can always upgrade later. Two, I agree you should get a small SSD to put your OS on, however your games do NOT need to be on the same drive in order to run. that's just stupid. Tuck your OS in your SSD and then put everything else on your other Drives. How do I know this? That's the exact same setup I'm running right now, and I've got about a dozen or so MMOs that I run often and never once a problem. Don't bother partitioning the main drives for the OS if you opt for the SSD obviously.

Computer experts' help?

I'm not very good with computers, but i would love to be able to play Aion, the online MMO game. Can someone who knows about the system requirements/comparison please help? Thank you so much.

Upgrading my computer.?

Jessica j

Upgrading my Motherboard, CPU, Ram, Video Card, and adding a SSD for the operating system.
The following is the upgraded system when complete.

OS: Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
CPU: AMD 9320
Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth 990fx R2.0
Ram: 16GB Corsair Vengeance Pro DDR3 1866
Video: XFX HD 7970 3GB 384-bit
SSD: Samsung 840 Pro 128GB
HDD: Seagate 500GB
Power: Antec 750W

Should this be a good enough for a system that will run games (with or without FRAPS running) and multitasking with MS Office products. One full 1080p monitor at this time but will upgrade later using 2 full 1080p monitors. What are some opinions about this setup.

Answer
Can't argue with that build.

In most titles the new GeForce GTX 770 beats both the Radeon HD 7970 and GTX 680, so that's something to consider. Of course for dual monitors the 3GB of VRAM on the HD 7970 is advantageous. But if you plan to run games on dual 1080p monitors (as opposed to gaming on one monitor and using the other for work/browsing) then a 4GB card would be ideal.

Is this a good gaming laptop?

orlando am

Processor: AMD A10-4600M quad-core accelerated processor (2.3GHz/3.4GHz w/ TurboCORE)
Memory: 6GB DDR3 memory
Storage: 750GB hard drive
Graphics: AMD Radeon⢠HD 7660G + 7670M Dual Graphics w/ 2GB dedicated memory, AMD A70M Fusion⢠chipset
I was looking for a laptop which was able to play moderate games, now will these specs be able to run battlefield 4 and COD ghost? If so, could you please give me an estimation of what sort of performance I can get. All games will be played at 768p

Answer
Dual graphics works better on paper than in reality.
An HD 7660G alone scores G3D 803 and 7670M 838, but the gaming and test results score all over the place. This site says the reported combination is less than the individual GPUs at 750
http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu_list.php
That is reported scores in a test.

This site:
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Computer-Games-on-Laptop-Graphic-Cards.13849.0.html
ranks the dual at 162 and lower 166 7670M and 185 on the 7660G where lower is better.
Reports on high settings, like Dead Space 3 (2013) 37.8 fps on dual, 37.3 on the 7670M, 32.9 on the 7660G.
There is no question that the new games would be playable, but the question is whether the laptop performs better than an i5-3210M and HD 7670M or GT 630M.
Even in slight averaging downward, I would go with the Intel setup.
The A10 scores 3157, and that is only in line with core i3
Core i3-3120M @ 2.50GHz3285, Core i3-3110M @ 2.40GHz3044
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php
The dedicated ram is DDR3. Graphics chips can use system ram as DDR3. The 6+2 total 8GB is enough, but dedicated only counts as an improvement as GDDR5 ram. Otherwise, just add the numbers. As a matter of fact, 4+2 is imbalanced and loses 5% for lack of RAID that requires balanced pairs.

Dual graphics seems to do better when able to stress it. 1080p displays and highest settings work best. Drop it to the x768 and it does not show as well.

The process of dual graphics involves sending alternate frames to each GPU and then displaying them alternating. The greater the imbalance, the worse is something called microstuttering. That causes you to drop the settings down or shut off Dual graphics.

Battlefield-4 shows approaching medium settings 25fps guidance

COD Ghosts a little lower

My thinking is that this is disappointing, but is a $500 Acer and you can't do much better at the price. (Acer.com had it for $500 for a long time and may still be)

The problem is you bump up the price and don't get enough.
$600
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834314181
$640
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834216538
Would you take a scratch and dent refurb to have the real power:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834231044
ASUS G46VW-BHI5N43 Notebook, B Grade Scratch and Dent Intel Core i5 3210M(2.50GHz) 14" 8GB Memory 750GB HDD 5400rpm NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M
$590 after rebate.
That gets the medium-high settings
http://www.game-debate.com/games/index.php?g_id=7619&game=Call+of+Duty%3A+Ghosts&p_make=Intel&p_deriv=Core+i5-3210M+2.5GHz&gc_make=Nvidia&gc_deriv=GeForce+GTX+660M&ram=8&checkSubmit=#systemRequirements

If you are stuck at $500, get what you can get. If the pool has more money and you want to really get good performance, takes a bigger bite.

Can someone please help me fix my desktop?

best gaming computer setup 2013 image
Q. I have a pretty irritating situation that i really need to resolve. I have quite a bit i need to mention before i get to the real problem. Ill try and be as detailed as possible to resolve this issue quicker.

1. I had a store bought HP Pavilion Desktop then i upgraded the Power supply to a 700W cooler Master and added a Radeon HD 6850 Gpu a few years ago.
2. It worked fine until around November 2012 when it suddenly just didn't work at all. Nothing would turn on or boot. I had identified the problem was that the power supply had died.
3. I had been wanting to buy a Gaming laptop for a while so instead of fixing my desktop i just went to the store and bought a laptop to replace it.
4. I left my computer to collect dust for nearly a year until just recently i decided to fix it. August 2013 ( last month) i decided to apply for a Replacement part for my power supply with cooler master. The new power supply came in 3 weeks ago.
5. I installed the power supply, pressed the power button on my desktop and it booted up just fine and worked like a charm for about 2 weeks then once again it just broke last Friday ( Friday 20th). The desktop would turn on but nothing would boot up and none of my peripherals would work(Keyboard, mouse and monitor) The monitor has power and turns on but it receives no signal.
6. I decided to fix this issue by replacing the parts that I assumed could have been faulty. I bought a new Mobo and also decided to just upgrade my Gpu and get a new case.
7. The parts that i salvaged from my Hp desktop are the HDD, CPU,Ram, Power supply and the optical drive.
8. I finally put everything together and assembled the new desktop but the same problem remains. Computer powers on, LED's and fans work but no functioning peripherals and the same no signal message on the monitor.
9. These are a list of all the parts currently being used in the system:

NEW:
GPU- Nvida Gtx 650 Ti 2gb
Mobo- Asus M5A78L
Psu- Cooler Master 700W non-Modular

Salvaged Parts:
Hdd- Seagate 1TB
CPU- AMD Anthlon II
Ram- DDR3 - 1333

Link to the old store bought Hp Pavillion :
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en...

I believe that the issue is most likely either the Cpu or the HDD but i'm definitely not an expert in this area. It is possible that the problem may also be the new Mobo but it's highly improbable considering it's brand new and the same problem also occurred in my old Setup as well, hinting that it's probably one of the old parts that i salvaged from the Hp desktop. Actually, it may also be possible that the power supply that i just received is faulty( also highly unlikely) I'm not too sure if Ram would cause any of these issue either. So that's why i believe the problem is either the HDD or CPU.

Thanks a lot guys i hope we can fix this 2 year ongoing problem together.

Answer
In order to get video, your machine must first pass the POST test performed by the BIOS. The post test checks for a mouse, keyboard and a display device, and tests the RAM. You can rule out the hard drive and the CPU as the causes of your problem. Try a different mouse and keyboard.
