Your processor may not be able to run very high-end games at the best graphics settings, but maybe medium-high settings.

But overall, I say yes.

Q. So, I have a Dell laptop, and I absolutely hate it! It's at very least 3 years old, I have found things that said they were last updated in 2010... It's not the best, and can be very laggy sometimes on things like Minecraft. It overheats quite a lot and sucks in hair like it's nothing. I've wanted to use my laptop for CoD, Medal of Honor, and some racing games, but I fear it will lag to much. My birthday is in July...
Also, I have a Bamboo Tablet... My laptop does not let my tablet driver or w/e run unless i have it plugged in when I start it up, making it impossible to do wireless now. The side of it also broke, partially from it being old, and partially from dropping it.
Also, the button to click is broken, so I often find myself tapping the trackpad to click, which can get frustrating because I have to press so hard...
This laptop is also refurbished, and my dad thinks he can just constantly keep fixing this one when it does not want to work.

I would prefer a screen resolution of 1366x768 because I will use my USB to put things on my new laptop like backgrounds, so I'd like to have them fit instead of finding identical or new ones for my laptop...
I would prefer it to be under $500, but it CANNOT go over $700...

Buying advice

Apple makes a good quality laptop. The problem comes when it requires service or minor upgrades. It is near impossible to do anything with them. They even glue the battery and hard drive down so you can not change it. They solder the ram to the logic board so you can not increase it. They lock up most of the software so your stuck with what they approve.

Lenovo has serious stand behind their product problems. They bought IBM PC division and proceeded to drive the quality of the system into the ground. Their customer service is well below par. They even makes Dell customer service look good. The last and final thing to remember about them is they are a Chinese Government own company. It is up to you if you want to trust them.

Toshiba, Panasonic, Sony should be avoided because of their heavy modification of Windows and the drivers. If you remove some of the bloat they install, you can cripple the system.

Acer, Gateway, and eMachines should be avoided period. Low end system that are driving the race to the bottom.

Dell once made a good system and fell from grace. They are now struggling to regain their place in the market. Customer service is one of many problems with this company.

Alienware are glorified Dells and are more name then product. Priced extremely high for what you get. They do perform but you can get the same for less by looking around, just not packaged to be eye candy to the gamers.

Samsung has a history of using cheap parts in critical areas. Capacitors has been one area Samsung has a known history of going cheap, causing units to fail early. For that reason I would avoid them.

ASUS and HP do not modify Windows as bad as the other manufacturers. They have excellent build quality. They might add a lot of bloat but they also makes it easy to get rid of it.

Ultrabooks are the higher end of Wintel laptops but they have some of the same concerns as Apple. They make it next to impossible to change any hardware in them. Service of them will have to be done by the manufacturers. With most of them, you can not change your own battery or hard drive. They are designed to catch your eye but they are not any more special then other laptops except for the fact that they are slim or thin. Your paying for it being thin and slim. For the money your going to spend on it you can buy a much better laptop with more power.

Tablets are just toys to me. They can not handle the work load like Laptops and Desktops and do not have the storage capacity you will end up needing.

Hybrids are the worse of the worse. The flip or detachable touch screens are just a disaster waiting to happen.

Never buy an All In One. They are far worst then laptops of any kind to service and they have a higher failure rate. My experience with them are limited because the few I worked on made me think they were designed in such a way as it would take a blow torch and a jack hammer just to disassemble them.

Choose wisely.

Sorry brother.Its not possible to build a gaming laptop.The first thing needed to build a gaming laptop/Computer is the graphics card.You need a pretty good graphics for playing cool games on the laptop.At least you need 512mb of graphics itself for playing the most recent games in the pc.And its not possible to change a laptops graphics card.But there are some like DELL XPS & Alienware laptops to change but it costs much.You can change almost everything like RAM,Hard disk and processor(in some).But not most often possible to change the graphics card.You have to stick to the one you've got.You can build a gaming Computer more easily and with less expense than the laptop,and you can change every specifications of it.

I have an HP 2010 laptop. It's got pretty good memory. I play the sims 3 a ton and have 6 sims games on my computer, after i got my last one my computer totally slowed down when I would play it, is there such thing as like a memory card, or something I can get so that my computer can hold all these games?

your talking about an external hard drive (to hold data, music movies files games ect.)

but the computer is slow not necessarily because you have too many games, but because the ram, processor or graphics card is not great

(when it comes to games, laptops are not the greatest, unless you spend a good amount of money on one. or buy one that is many for games) a lot of laptops don't come with great graphics cards which will slow down a game

if its really an issue take your laptop to fuureshop or best buy(or right down your specs or model of the laptop) and explain to them you issue and what you options are

you might want to deal with it for another year, save and buy a laptop thats good for gaming,

I currently have a Dell and because of my terrible experiences with their customer support, i will not be purchasing my next laptop from them. One of my top priorities in my search for a new laptop is the quality of customer service. I'd appreciate specific examples rather than general statements, if possible. Thanks.

I have also read many reviews that the Genius Bar at the Apple Stores is the most knowledgeable of tech support offered in a retail store setting. However, their Tech Support is not cheap, unless you buy a 3-years Service Agreement from Apple.

If Tech Support is your top concern, you may want to look into a Mac. Apple is the biggest personal computer and have the volume to get the best suppliers. Well. Maybe not the suppliers who are best to their own employees.

If you want to stay with Windows, I'd recommend Lenovo because their Thinkpads are still better made than most. Sony as a corporation has lost a lot of business in TV, music players and game consoles and hasn't really put out anything special in computers.

How do I know what programs to uninstall when removing Bloatware?

I have just set up 2 HP laptops and there is quite a bit to get rid of if you want an installation without bloat-ware.

During installation you will be prompted if you want to install Norton. I didn't install Norton but there was a basic installation of Norton ready to be activated when the installation was complete. I uninstalled Norton from the Control Panel, Programs and Features but that didn't get rid of all of Norton. Microsoft Word 2010 trial was also ready to be installed. I uninstalled than because I already have Office 2007 that I like. There were over 50 games or shortcuts for games. I got rid of most of that. If you don't have Bluetooth devices, make sure that you don't install that.

There are several HP utilities. Keep them until you know what they are and what they do. One thing to try immediately after install is the HP Setup Manager where you can create Recovery Disks. It will take 7 DVD's. The HP Support Assistant should be run as soon as you can because it will check HP for the latest drivers and updates that HP has for your computer including BIOS updates which it will automatically install for you.

Just leave everything in the HP folder alone until you are satisfied that you don't need or want the items offered.

It has been over a week now since I started and I am still finding stuff that I don't want. Before uninstalling anything, find out what it is and how it will affect the computer if it is gone.
