Gaming computer for £400?

Szymon

Can anyone suggest what parts to buy for a 400 sterling gaming pc.
The pc has to have an evga gtx 650 ti or higher graphics card.
The parts have to be from ebuyer.co.uk or amazon.co.uk
Parts not needed monitor, keyboard, mouse, webcam, operating system

Answer
gaming pc dont even bother trying to build a gaming pc from scratch as you wont be able to on a 400 budget best you can get

Really good gaming laptop?

Pete

Hello everyone,

So I'm currently looking for a new laptop, and I want a good gaming laptop this time. The price range can go to max. about 3000⬠(about 4000$). I don't mind how big the laptop is (except if it's literally huge). I've checked out a few laptops, like "Alienware 18" and "BATTLEFIELD IV LAPTOP COMMANDER 780", but I'm not exactly the biggest expert in gaming laptops, so that's why I'm asking for help/suggestions/recommendations.
The biggest "aim" for the gaming laptop is playing Skyrim on Ultra graphics, with mods and without lag. I currently am able to only play Skyrim on low graphics without mods, otherwise the game lags too much/crashes.
So, the question: which gaming laptop is the best?
Extra: I want a laptop because I generally move a lot around my house and use my laptop in different parts of my house (sometimes in my room, sometimes in my living room, etc.) I also visit my dad quite a few times and a laptop is simpler to bring around than a desktop.
more extra: just because I bring it around doesn't mean I want a small/thin/light computer. I actually prefer bigger laptops. I don't mind bringing heavier laptops around.

Answer
OK. Be aware that at the price, performance is a huge amount lower than a desktop PC setup, and you may want to add an LCD monitor, gaming keyboard and mouse, in a place you use it most and work usb and HDMI when stationary so you can get an improved setup in a usual location.

As you get higher in performance, you pay a lot more for the increase in performance.
The price point you are at should represent a very high performance laptop, most likely one as custom made for you.
The general gaming performance will be determined by the graphics processor, and may be 2 GPUs in SLI.
That, you can look up here:
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Computer-Games-on-Laptop-Graphic-Cards.13849.0.html
The cpu is assumed to be a full laptop voltage Intel quad core. i7-xxxxMQ or i7-xxxxQM.
You can use the CPU processor ranking,
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Processors-Benchmarklist.2436.0.html
Generally, over 8GB RAM does not help much, if at all unless recording gaming.
SSD's are a plus, and evaluation of the LCD by pixel density and color gamat can be a big factor.
Using as a reference Far Cry 3 as a high cpu game, and knowing that extra CPU power over the requirements does not help very much:
http://www.game-debate.com/games/index.php?g_id=883&game=Far+Cry+3&p_make=Intel&p_deriv=Core+i7-3610QM+4-Core+2.3GHz&gc_make=Nvidia&gc_deriv=GeForce+GTX+780M+SLI&ram=8&checkSubmit=#systemRequirements
i7-3610QM or higher is enough, but you can push it up more if you want. Focus on the GPU more
PCSpecialist has the 17.3" Vortex IV E3D as their top end custom:
http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/notebooks/vortexIV-Elite-3D/
17.3" 120Hz 3D Matte Full HD LED Widescreen (1920x1080)
i7-4700MQ haswell i7 quad core
8GB KINGSTON HYPER-X GENESIS 1600MHz SODIMM DDR3 (2 x 4GB)
2 x NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 780M
480GB KINGSTON V300 SSD, SATA 6 Gb
1TB SEAGATE HYBRID GEN3 SSHD Drive, SATA 6 Gb/s
DVDRW
ARCTIC MX-4 EXTREME THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY COMPOUND
8 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
Genuine Windows 8.1 64 Bit - inc DVD & Licence
plus a few others, and this can be further upgraded in a few areas.
The price is £2,447 delivered the way I show it.
You may want a laptop cooling pad, computer case, other extras.
http://www.cyberpowersystem.co.uk/
http://www.utopiacomputers.co.uk/?module&id=custom-laptops
Or, will check a Dell Alienware 18 giving a bigger screen.
£2,804 gets a bigger screen but I don't think it is as good in performance. CPU, graphics, RAM, battery about the same. A little lower end HDD as 1.5TB RAID 0 (2x750GB 7200RPM) + 80GB mSATA SSD Caching, may have better wireless by a little bit. Has HDMI input.
More expensive, but I don't see it as better.
It is resolved the graphics should be NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M SLI, and CPU a Haswell quad core MQ or QM suffix, and a fine set of specifications. I prefer the quality of a custom. You can search overclockers and a few others, but I lean to the PCSpecialist, and if you want to push a few specs higher you can, but gaming does not improve as it is the top GPU of laptops, an adequate CPU to cover any game, adequate RAM, great 3d display, hand done premium thermal paste, large solid state drive and an extra large additional storage, etc etc etc.
The laptop should perform around a GTX 780 desktop pc as noted by the notebookcheck and this:
http://www.game-debate.com/gpu/index.php?gid=1759&gid2=880&compare=geforce-gtx-780m-sli-vs-geforce-gtx-780
and this should match it also
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/827

Adding: You show Euro, I show UK. You do not state your country or where you can get custom laptops. That is as close as I can get to you.
The 2447 pounds is 2873 Euros plus shipping if they ship to you.
The 2804 dell is 3300 euros
I think you are in Germany, and you should be able to find comparable or import from the UK.

Spencerr

Hey, I want to buy custom parts for a new computer starting from scratch. The problem is that have no clue what parts to choose! I am willing to spend about 1,500$ on it. I already have a Monitor, keyboard, speakers, mouse, etc. All i need help with is a cool case and gaming parts.

Answer
+1 to james. But because I'm kind I'll give you a list from a tech website. The builds are not perfect but you really should research in forums, sites etc. before you try anything. Here's the linkhttp://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/269162-13-recommended-builds-usage.
