i cant play Portal, the pc game, unless my screen resolution increases. Can i decrease the resolution requirements for the game? if not, how do i increase my notebook resolution?

if you're using XP right click on the desktop>properties select the "settings" TAB ,on the bottom-left is your screen resolution.
if you're using Win7 right click on the desktop >personalize, on the bottom left choose "Display"
then press on "Adjust resolution" on the upper left , then choose the resolution u want.

I've been recording my gameplay of my PC gaming and I have a 1024x768 Screen resolution and so when I publish my video to YouTube I have the black boxes on the side of the video or letterboxing.
I would like to know how to make my 4:3 ratio video into a 16:9 ratio video to have no letterboxing and fit the whole YouTube screen.

Sony Vegas is a great editor to remove that(: Record and save the clip, then take the "Event/Pan/Crop" button and drag it around until it's full screen or until it's where you want it(: They have a lot of how to make Sony Vegas videos full screen on youtube. Also, Sony's website has a trial of Vegas that you can use to see if you like it(:
