I'm going to the Ranger game tomorrow, should I wear a paper bag over my head?

Q.

Answer
Hahahaha. I went to a Nets-Knicks game this year and a Nets fan had a paper bag over his head. It's very funny. He got on the big monitor and made everybody laugh. Definitely go for it and try to get some laughs and picked up by the cameras.

Help with childrens party games?

Answer
You have a great selection already! I agree with limiting games. I wouldnât have more than 3 or 4 because of their ages. Try and be well organized so that you can move from one thing to the next without any distractions.

I like (at this age) playing games where essentially everyone wins. Pass the Parcel is great for this! Try and monitor it so that every child gets a prize. A variation of this instead of putting a prize in each layer of wrap is to have the final prize where there is enough for every one. The child who opens the final prize (lollypops or small toys) can pass them to each of the children.

I suggest when you play musical bumps/statues chairs, that the child who gets out first gets to be the next person in control of starting and stopping the music. Do this for every round. By doing it this way you are giving the person who is out something to look forward to so they are not feeling like they âlost.â

You can play limbo or freeze dance to music and do the same thing where the child who is out is in charge of the music.

Another fun game for this age is âDoggy doggy whereâs your bone?â. Find a plastic dog bone (or something that resembles a bone). Have the children sit in a circle. Have one child go hide. Have the rest of the children all close their eyes, put the bone into a childâs lap (make sure they are hiding it) and say âDoggy doggy whereâs your bone? Somebody took it far from home. Guess who?â The child hiding comes back to the group and has three guesses to who has the bone. If they find the bone, the child who was holding it gets to hide next. If they donât find it the children get to tell who had it and the child who was hiding gets to hand it off to another child.

You can do a bean bag toss or water balloon toss. You can also get a pull string piñata (much safer than a bat swinging around).

You may want to consider having some activity to do for any children not interested in playing the game.

You can ask a friend to do face painting. They love this at this age! You can also set aside some art activities like Froot loop necklaces or rock painting.

Here is a good party game website. http://www.partygamecentral.com/pgcstandard/cglformstd.htm

Happy planning!
