What you got there is fine. For gaming Intel's CPUs are a bit better. Though you should look for iBUYPower or CyberPowerPC's sales.

black veil

Ok so todays my birthday and I told my parents I want a gaming computer and they said ok but they will pay for half of it which we both agreed is reasonable and I want to know of a computer that is fast has good fps and will beable to play alot of newer games that I could buy and id like to be able to get new processers if so. Thanks id like between 500 to 1000 not includeing monitor

Answer
http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/Back_To_School_2013/

I'd go there and look at that build I just threw together. AND like the poster before me, if you can build it yourself, you'll save all kinds of money and it'll be a beefier because of it.

I run a 3 year old HD 5770 and I just got done playing the Crysis 3 beta for about an hour on medium settings....So with that money limit you can get something nice. :)

Best cheapest gaming motherboard?

A Gamer

CPU:
AMD Athlon II X4 640 Propus 3.0GHz Socket AM3 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor ADX640WFGMBOX

GPU:
SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 7750 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card ( 11202-00-20G)

PSU : Corsair 430x ( Is this enough ? )

Hard drive: 500gb seagate

I need a good cheap motherboard thats for gaming. I don't know how to find compatible motherboard :(.

(Tell me if the PSU is enough. Im sure it is, but just to make sure.)

Answer
You are about to build my system (besides using a 7750 instead of 6750) , in 2013.. I hope you aren't using over 1440x900 , or just over 720p as a monitor. The 7750 and Athlon II X4 isn't going to cut it at 1080p.

Anyway, I suggest you move on to an intel build if you want to spend that cheap. The Athlon II X4 is now $75 , so I'd suggest a G2010 instead. Or really a 2020 , or i3-3220 if possible. You'll find in games the i3 will murder the Athlon II X4.

But if you are hard set on AMD, I'd get an AsROCK with AM3+ that also supports the AM3 Athlon II X4 . I wouldn't mess with Biostar personally.

You'll find that the http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157323 supports both the Athlon II X4 and the newer ones. But so does the ASUS product, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131795 with 3x the warranty.

edit: also http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story&reid=214 http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story4&reid=214 . So yes.

edit2: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-hd-7770-7750-benchmark,3135-14.html

Are these specs good for gaming for $699?

Born

-NVIDIA GTX 650 1GB
-Intel Core i3 3220 CPU
-8GB 1600MHz Memory
-500GB 7200RPM HDD
-ASUS H61 Chipset Motherboard
430W Corsair CX Power Supply
DVD-R/RW/CD-R/RW
Microsoft Windows 7

Answer
You want to play Heavy games . I am giving You the best -

Criteria = DDR 3 , 64 Bit

Monitor = 3D , HDMI . ( ASUS VG248QE suggested )
Cabinet : Cooler Master
RAM : Corsair ( DDR 3 ) , 8 GB ( 4 GB Per slot )
Processor : AMD FX 8350 -> The best processor of 2013 , it can beats i7 also .
Motherboard : Ask the Vendor which Motherboard is best according to the Processor .
SMPS : Cooler Master Extreme Power Plus 600 W
Graphic Card : 2GB , Open-GL 4.3 Compatible , 3D , FULL HD , HDMI , DDR 5 and Latest Edition ( AMD suggested you can also use NVIDIA )
DVD Drive : Blu-Ray supported , BD-R Dual Layer , BD-RE Dual Layer ( LaCie d2 Blu-ray suggested )
Mouse , Keyboard : Multimedia , Gaming Keyboard . ( Microsoft suggested , you can also use Logitech )
Hard Disk : 6 GBPS or Above , SATA . ( Seagate suggested )

I think these configuration will give the best gaming experience ever as it is almost the highest level Computer configuration of 2013 .

Is this enough for a gaming CPU 2013?

Stanley

Im a newbie trying to build my first CPU!!
Please tell me if I should change any parts,
and please tell me if its enough to play today's games

Processor : Intel Core i5-3470
RAM : Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3-1600 CL9
Internal Drive : Seagate ST1000DM003
Optical Drive : LG GH24NS95
Graphics : ColaMax GeForce GT630 2GB LP

I heard rumours about Seagate not lasting and Western Digital is better?
Please tell me if its true.

Answer
Your I5-3470 is a great CPU (which I also have) and would last and would still be good for 3-5 years.

I have a 500gb Seagate HDD for 2 years now and it's still doing fine.

The problem for your build is the GT630, it is not a gaming grade card, if you wanted something that can let you play all games on high settings then getting a card not lower than an HD7770 / GTX 650 ti would be best.

GT640 (upgraded GT630) VS HD7770:

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/612?vs=536

If you wanted to gain better performance from the HD7770, playing on 1600 x 900 resolution on a 20" monitor is a great move.

The HD7770 on 1600x900 resolution can play all games on high settings smoothly and can last you up to 3 years before you notice it to be already struggling in current games.

While on 1080p gaming, high-max settings, you'll be needing an HD7850 / GTX 650 ti boost.

GTX 660 / HD7870 (and higher) - max settings on 1080p

What is The Best Gaming Laptop for My Budget?

TheVollsta

I got a budget of 27000 Norwegian Kroner which is about 4594 dollars.

I need a PC that's able to play most games at least on high and maybe, but not necessarily Ultra.

I'm new to PC gaming - you know i'm the typical Console boy or whatever.. lol so i dont understand much of the pc language.

BTW, I've been looking to buy the Razer Blade Pro when it comes out, but it seems like they aren't shipping to where i live

--I give best answer--

Thank you for your time!

Answer
For your budget you could get TWO Asus or Alienware (Dell) top machines with good graphics chips. Then you could winter in Majorca or the Canaries with the rest of that budget.

If you want superior graphics, get a ViDock and put a really high end card in it, use an exterior monitor. http://pcgamerhub.com/external-video-card-for-laptop-gaming/
Better is to build your own exterior PSIe-16x slot from a $100 kit from China and a standard desktop power supply for it. http://lifehacker.com/5851902/turn-a-low+powered-laptop-into-a-gaming-machine-with-an-external-video-card-dock

How to prevent my computer from shutting down while playing games?

gaming monitor 2013

gaming monitor 2013 image

Reignscyth

So my computer shuts down everytime I try to play a game. (NFS:U2 to be exact..) I think it fits snugly into the games minimum requirements, and it has three cooling fans (one on the side, one on the mainboard, one underneath the video card.) I downloaded Razer Game Booster and did everything on its tips; tweaking my PC, killing almost every processes in game mode and such. But I can't still play the game over even an hour. Help on how to resolve this?

My PC's specs (I know it's a bit outdated..)

System:
Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 3

Computer:
Intel Core2 Duo CPU E7400 @ 2.80GHz, 2.80GHz, 1.00 GB of RAM

Hard Disk:
C 4.08 GB free of 29.2 GB
D 17.7 GB free of 45.2 GB

Video Card:
DirectX 9.0c
NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT

I think this can help too (Razer Game Booster Diagnosis)

Thanks..
I just monitored its temperatures..
CPU: 33-39 C
Mainboard: 33-34 C
Video Card: 66-70 C
Hard Disk: 33-41 C
The maximum temperatures recorded are before and during the game.
The minimum was after it restarted.

Do I need to replace a part or are my parts still okay?
If so, please recommend me a reliable one.. Thanks

Answer
Check the fan of your GPU, it might be faulty already. I once owned a 9600GT, faulty fan also made it overheat....

solution, you could put fresh thermal paste, then attach an 80mm fan that is blowing air towards the card, the fan should be running at full speed all the time, just connect it to the psu 4 pin molex.

BTW, adding more ram would be necessary for your build since 1 gb RAM is insufficient IMHO...

How much computer stuff would I need to play Rome Total War 2 for optimum performance and graphics?

Bryce

Need a new computer. Not really a tech junkie so keep the explanation simple. What kind of computer would be good? How many graphics or Sound cards would I need? How much will it cost me to play this game. Im such a fan I must know

Answer
Well it's not released yet, so nobody is 100% certain right now. However, it's going to have a new engine and people expect it will have similar requirements to Total War: Shogun 2.

http://diaryofdennis.wordpress.com/2012/07/03/total-war-rome-2-estimated-system-requirements-and-release-date-probably-2013/

So basically, that means a desktop computer around $800-$900. The bottom-line specs you'll want:

1 - Core i5 processor (2nd or 3rd generation)

2 - At least 4GB of RAM (almost all new systems come with 8GB anyway)

3 - A graphics card around $125-$150, at least a Radeon HD 7770 or GeForce GTX 560 SE. Get a $170 card like a GeForce GTX 560 or Radeon HD 6870 and you'll be way in the clear.

http://www.anandtech.com/show/5541/amd-radeon-hd-7750-radeon-hd-7770-ghz-edition-review/14

Building from scratch is the best option, as pre-built systems typically don't have good graphics cards. You could always buy a $600 computer from Best Buy and upgrade the graphics card and power supply yourself, or pay a tech to install 'em for you. You could also look into getting a custom-built system from CyberpowerPC or Ibuypower's websites, but that costs more.

Here are some stock computers that would work:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229335
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227412
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227435

But you'd be better off buying this:
http://www.amazon.com/Gateway-DX-Series-DX4860-UR14P-Desktop/dp/B007W11590/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1349292447&sr=1-2&keywords=gateway+desktop+i5

Then adding these:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371031
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130661

If you're planning to play on a full HD monitor (1920x1080 resolution) then you should get a 2GB graphics card. But the card model is more important than the memory. Don't think for a second that a $60 card with 2GB would work. Yo
