Trying to learn more about computers and hardware for gaming?

I'm looking into gettin a new computer but I don't really know anything about them. Like... Literally nothing... I've always just played games on consoles but its getting old. I started playing PC games mostly rts at my friends, and no console games compare to PC.
Anyways I've been reading some articles on building your own pc "for beginners". If those are for beginners idk wtf to call my level of knowledge lmao.
Lets assume i know as much about computers as a newborn. Anybody know where I can begin on building a PC?

4) Look through Yahoo Q+A. I keep an open history, see what questions are worth reading answers and seeing the references and solutions. For now, I am #9 in the US in Desktops, easy to see mine. See if anyone else has history of Q+A to browse through.
5) What needs to be included in an overall total cost? Monitor? Keyboard? PC itself? Cables?
Decide the importance of factors:
Performance for the dollar spent?
Upgradability?
Reliability and stability?
These things fight each other giving different build part sets depending on the importance of each at a fixed spend amount.
6) Post a permalink of a build you came up with on paper at pcpartpicker, and state your country and city/state, amount of money available as a goal and whether any room to spend more, and about the goals you have in #5, and the games you have in mind, because each game has differing needs of cpu, GPU, ram.
Recognize that building a PC if done right is 90% research, 1% ordering and accepting delivery of parts, and 4% build and setup. And I may be a little low on the research in this estimate. Measure a dozen times, then cut once.

Anyone can build a pc, it is much harder to build the best pc for you personally at a fixed amount of spend.
