gaming monitor 5ms vs 2ms image

Can't find an Acer H242H. I see Asus VH242H and Acer H233H. There are very many monitors out there and you have to be exact or send a specification or buying link to see it. I bought an Asus VH238H with the 2ms response (120Hz) and LED backlit. The color is excellent. The fast motion clarity perfect. The brightness is a little less, but cannot have everything in a budget monitor.
The criteria is LED over the standard CCFL(unlisted usually if CCFL) for uniformity across the screen and wear out over time, 2ms over 5ms for faster action clarity, higher brightness over lower brightness to control in a room. Higher dynamic contrast ratio over lower for black black and white white. Adjustment color features are a big plus in gaming to allow for color preference schemes. If it is 16:10 vs 16:9 I think it is supposed to be better for gaming as an aspect ratio, but that it not critical unless the specs say both in the monitor.
The brands are usually not critical, and great if you can see it in the store. There are only a few makers of LCD panels, and the rest are brand name reseller with labels. Asus and Acer are not LCD panel manufacturers, so they could be the same units.

I have been considering buying a hdmi compatible full hd monitor to play my x-box 360 on via hdmi cable and have found a good deal on this monitor. How ever i dont know much about these monitors so your help would be much appreciated.
Answer
The brightness and contrast are not the best, but for a monitor of that price, its a pretty good deal. The response rate is rated at 5ms, again not the best, but decent as you are considering using this on an xbox. Its on the lower end, but it seems like a decent product for the budget minded consumer.
The main things to look for in an LCD monitor are:
Response Rate: This is described in ms, or Milliseconds. Lower is better, less blur with motion. 2ms is best.
Contrast Ratio: This is a ratio that describes the darkness of the black vs the brightness of the white. Higher is better. 10,000:1 is good, anything above is even better.
Brightness: This is the power of the back light, higher is better. 300 is average.
Hope this helps you out.
