I just bought a gateway HD2201 monitor and am trying to use it with my xbox 360 using an HDMI cable. Does anyone know how to carry over sound with the HDMI cable. The manual says HDMI will but idk what to set the xbox to.

What kind of cable are you using? If it's actual HDMI, just one single cable, then you, plug it straight into the monitor. If you are using HD component cables, with the Red,blue and green, make sure that the speakers are connected.
Does the Monitor have speakers? If so, try adjusting the volume on the monitor, also try adjusting the master volume in games. The volume is usually meant for TV speakers, which pack a bit bigger of a punch volume wise.
Lastly, go to the system settings for the Xbox 360, and look at the sound settings.Make sure that it is in Dolby Digital stereo, not 5.1 or WMA pro.

I'm not a hardcore comp gamer but love me games like total war and things like that problem is very few work on my simple old computer I know the basic on building a new one but I don't understand all the names for computer parts. Also I can't afford to spend allot of money and I would like to beable to upgrade the computer too keep up with game requirements.
