I understand that response time is important for gaming, but how important is it for movies? Is 2ms very different than 5ms? My monitor is 2ms, but it stopped functioning, so I'm concerned that if I buy a monitor with 5ms, the difference will be noticeable.

The human eye can only see about 25 frames per second (in fact, a movie is just 25 still pictures showing every second). This means that anything less than 40ms is going to appear instantaneous to you. It's physically impossible for you to notice a 3ms delay.

It is unlikely that you'll see much difference in response time between 2 and 5 ms, unless you're really fine-tuned for it. It's the grey-to-grey time which is important when watching movies, not the black-to-black. You should be fine with the 5 ms screen.
