Nintendo Wii games.?

Revenant

I'm buying a Wii today and I have 100 extra dollars.

Which games should I get?

Answer
the game i like is Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games its like wii sports(game that comes withthe wii) and is in this coming up olympics and Endless Ocean u can be a subca diver and explore the ocean and Battalion Wars 2 a war game

Super Mario Galaxy - Best Game Out For The Wii Right Now. Its Fun, Enjoyable, Takes A While To Get Old And There Is Something New Around Every Corner.

Zelda: Twilight Princess - A Good Game If You Can Be A Person To Make A commitment To A Long And Super Fun Game. Good Story, Artwork And Weapons To Boot

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption - Same With Zelda as With Metroid, You Just Fight Aliens Instead Of Goblins.

Wario Ware: Smooth Moves - Funniest Game Out On The Market Right Now. Let Me Tell You, This Game Is Unpredictable And Super Hilarious

Guitar Hero 3 - If You Thank You Can Handle The Guitar And At Least Play It Decent And You Love Music, Get This One.

Everyone seems to have Twiligh princess the legend of Zelda, its actually really fun and very popular game no game collection is a collection without Zelda Lol. It helps you learn all the controles of the wii.

2- MySims in this game you got to help bring this town to life and help out your follow citizans people will ask if they can move in your town you can let them or you can decide not to. So you get to build the house however you like and well how you want it to look. The main goal in this game is to ask your town members and talk to them they will ask you if you can build them lets says a chair. Then you agree and you have to find what you need to make the stuff. Anyways im probably making it sound complicated -- but honestly its a fun game. And you can find a lot of revues on youtube.

The Sims 2 - Castaway: So i like sims games let me point out these games arn't just for girls I mean my brothers 18 and enjoys playing this game when he wants something fun yet not as intence. So you have a crew of sims you creat them and your stuck on a deserted Iland and have no food. No phone. Nothing. So its your job to make shelters and find food. You can even train the chimps/Monkeys to help you gather food. The goal is to escape the Island.

Wario Ware smooth moves- Okay this games a little bit faster basically you will have to solve puzzles by using the wii remote some are pretty though and you got a certain amount of time you do a lot of moving.

Cooking Mama- this you really use the wii remote you got to cook food and says your pilling a patato you got to do the same motion and it will appear on the screen its a neat game and i absolutely love it.

Red Steel Or Resident evil four: I'm assuming you will like racing car games if so Red Steel is the way to go... and resident evil thats a great game for shooting you've probably played this before on computer/PS3 or something. If not im sure you would like it all my relatives that are guy teenagers just love it. Its challenging!

Wii Play/Wii Sports/Mario and sonic at the olympics: So this is basically a lot of sport games you can play on the wii Wii play and wii sports you can have two players and go against eachother there great to have when you got people over and plus the wii play gots an extra remote so thats always good.

Trauma Center is a good game where you get to operate on people and your the doctor you get to operate on them basically tons of blood. Yet you get used to it and it gets really interesting/fun! xD

Super Mario galaxy I hear that one is fun and populare at the moment so you can give it a shot if you like !

Wii fit is coming soon sometime this year hopefully in Febuary this is for people who need to lose a little calories and get in shape well playing a video game so its got to be great its one of my must haves maybe you can try that one?

DDR hottest party well thats dancing and you lose a lot of calories while doing this one or you can try dancing with the stars this once dancing also you actually dance with this mat thing you can buy in stores its a lot of fun!

Just to give you a couple ideas
best of luck!

Party Games?

butterfly

I'm hosting a party the day after tomorrow. Its only for a few of my close friends, and two of their friends that I haven't met yet. We're all fourteen. I need ideas of what kinds of things we should do (that don't involve television and computer.) Thanks for your suggestions!

Answer
theres a fun game called spit and talk

put 2 chairs facing each other (a few feet apart).
have someone sitting in each chair, and have them take a big sip of water in their mouth and hold it.
have another person kneel behind each of those people talk as if they are their that person, saying funny things (maybe making fun of the person, in a funny/friendly way of course)

who ever spits their water out first loses

you'll probably want to put towels underneath

Is a Mac safe from government Peeking or this?

Kyle

We believe that some bad trojan? or whatever it is has been taken on by our entire houseful of regular pc's and laptops. It's Windows XP and 7. One of them got so irritated when I discovered it, that locked up all ways to access the internet, and froze up all programs. Then another pc gave me my first locked up blue screen, which I've never had since using XP, for 10+years. On two computers, I got them to work, after lots of trial and error, but they're definetly not the same.
So, it sounds funny, but in this world, I guess anything is possible, is a Apple Mac safe from either government, military, or browser spying (such as Yahoo, via employees)?
I guess it's not called Yahoo, "browser"., but just called "Yahoo".

Answer
Yours is a 2 part Q:
1) Privacy
2) Security
Both are hard to attain and equally hard to maintain.
1) Since all devices that interconnect using the Internet use the same 'mechanisms' (TCP/IP); and browsers come with liberal settings (to give users "that rich Internet experience"), it's been determined by very smart people other than yourself what you should be seeing and doing over those mechanisms; and they have figured out ways to monitor where you go and what you do when you get there, plus influence your future behavior.
Unless you modify your browser(s) automatic behavior, they will always have this influence over you.**

2) Your computer symptoms indicate an infection by one of the 'rogue' malware items that plague Windows users, but Apple has been lately getting the same garbage.
Giving us a name of the malware that's shut you out would allow more specific removal instructions.

I use Linux and never get this crap, but I've seen thousands of PC users here on Yahoo in the same boat as you.

** Does the Government monitor what everyone is doing?

Why is google taking over everything. I go and create a youtube account My REAL name shows up as the channel ANDD it links up every video i upload with everything related to my email. WTF!
ive had it with google D:
whyz it doing this DX ?

Answer
IMHO;
2 things come to mind: greed of the Google juggernaut, and a hidden agenda of the 'Powers that be'.
The first is obvious, I mean, who doesn't want to junk out that BMW and get a new Bentley?
The latter is more subtle, but you can get a hint from the latest DefCon article I saw recently: https://www.pcworld.com/businesscenter/article/260035/defcon_20_roundup_lessons_in_security.html

The game plan goes down like this: monitor> influence> control...all done over years of effort and subtle maneuvering with the eternal pacification mantra "it's for your own good". And the sheep remain contained in the fold, and content.

AutoCAD 2010 computer for gaming?

Dylan

On the 26th I am getting a custom built computer that was used for AutoCAD 2010. I'm getting it from a family member, he spent atleast 1000$ on it and it was used for 3D modeling and such. I am not interested in using it for AutoCAD, but for gaming. I play games like World of Warcraft, Call of Duty, SWTOR, League of Legends, etc. Are the specs on a 1000$+ custom built computer for AutoCAD typically good for gaming?

Answer
Yes is perfect for gaming!

Dependable Gaming Computers.?

Ryan

I was wondering, if anyone would mind naming a Gaming Computer that can play games like say Far Cry 2, Crysis 2, Battlefield Bad Company 2, or Call of Duty Black Ops with a good frame rate, that might also include a Video Card and a CPU ready to do the job of an Online Computer gamer. I'm looking for something possibly within the 600-700 Dollar range, and don't care about the noise of the fan. It would be nice to only have to deal with a slow frame rate on very rare occasions. If what I'm asking for is impossible for my price, then please don't hesitate to tell me.

Answer
In that price range you'd probably have to build it yourself- Or have a computer shop do it, although their labor cost usually adds $100 to your final price. Also, don't forget that a copy of Windows 7 adds another $100, most DIY guides include the price of hardware only.

For pre-built systems, you basically have two options in your price range:

1) Buy a low-cost starting computer and upgrade the power supply/graphics card yourself.

2) Buy a CyberPower PC system. I think they're higher quality than Ibuypower, although the two companies seem to have merged or something.

If you're going the self-build route here are some nice guides:
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/build-a-pc-overclock-athlon-ii-x3,2811.html
http://www.hardware-revolution.com/budget-gaming-pc-q4-2010/

If you're looking for something off-the-shelf to upgrade:
http://www.walmart.com/ip/GUA103SE/15231528

Then add these:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139018
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161338

And you'd have a nice gaming PC, under budget.

This is an even better starting PC:
http://www.walmart.com/ip/CyberPower-Cyberpower-GXI107/14860537

But you wouldn't be able to upgrade it as much without overshooting $700. The best video card you could install with the stock power supply is a Radeon 5670:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102871

But I'd recommend the same upgrades I posted earlier. If that's too high, go with these:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139017
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125342

Keep in mind that 75% of your gaming performance depends upon the graphics card, so having the first system (Athlon II) with a Radeon 5770 beats having the 2nd system (Core i3) with a Radeon 5670 or even 5750/GTS 450. In very CPU-intensive titles like Far Cry 2, the Core i3 would give you a boost, but not enough to offset having a weaker graphics card.

What is a good gaming laptop?

thisGuy

I want a laptop that has what is listed below, or similar

3rd generation intel i7 processor w/ 3ghz or more
3gb NVidia geforce GTX 670m graphics card
12gb or RAM
1080p HD
17.3" screen
750 gb hard drive (or more), 7200 rpm
windows 7 x64

the price doesn't matter to much but if possible i want it to be $2000 (maybe a bit low). the same computer from alienware is like $3000.

i was looking at a computer called a ASUS G75VW-TS72. but 2.3 ghz is a bit low to me.
Basically i want this computer to be able to run crysis 2, battlefield 3, or assassins creed revelations.

thank you!

Answer
Yes, it is a good gaming laptop for sure. Current games as of 2011 should therefore run fluently in Full HD resolution and high details. Only a few very demanding games, such as Metro 2033 or Crysis 2, may need reduced graphical settings for smoother gameplay.

Will This Laptop Be Able To run the Latest Games?

Alex Guthi

Now I have been having a old 5 year laptop. And its getting very old. Can't run most games. But does a good job with keeping barely any lag. But I been looking to upgrade my computer or simply buy a new one. So this one i have been keeping my eye on and i just wonder if its a type of computer that will be able to run the latest 2011 games or so. The Link is to the computer. Please click where it says "Details" This will show you information. your answers will be very helpful.

Answer
Yes, this laptop would be excellent to play just about any game out there. The computer has plenty of Ram and a great processor.

LCD Monitor vs LCD TV?

Q. I wanted to know if their was a actual difference in using a LCD monitor to a LCD TV, although the tv cost a bit more im willing to pay for it. My question is, is their a big difference between the two when using it as a PC monitor, cause i would like a TV without using a TV pc tuner card even though i have one.

The only difference i see is the refresh time between both of them, but what would be better for Gaming via PC and PS3 (both have HDMI,DVI,VGA) as well as using for uni assignments as in Hours of usage.

Their both 1920x1080 full HD

In use for a amd quad core, 4gb ram, built in graphics card supports Full HD 1080p and Blu-ray (VGA and HDMI out)

Answer
Go with the TV. better response time for better gaming, and you get more than just one use out of it. But the Response time is the biggest difference that will improve your gaming experience

ps3 monitor vs ps3 tv?

Paxio Maci

i think i got a 14 or 15' monitor and a 32' tv and i have my ps3 connected to my monitor hdmi to dvi NOW my tv comany claims that my tv has hdmi ports but i dont see any so where should i plug my ps3 to my monitor or my tv AND my pc has 5.1 surround sound on so when i plug my ps3 to my tv i wont get surround sound but! on my pc for some reason doesnt use the surround sound so the surround sound would be more useful on tv and on my tv i can play psmove cuz i have more space to play so its 15' surround sound vs 32' optional surround sound and psmove

Answer
i would you suggest you can go with Star Ocean: The Last Hope International
If you love good RPG games star ocean is one of the best. I played the last one for ps2 and loved it so I had high hopes for this. Turns out it lived up to everything and more. I played this for xbox but recently purchased a ps3. The Major difference that I see is that this game is all on one disk unlike the xbox version which you had to keep switching disk. That alone is enough for me to purchase this game for ps3. Gameplay wise this game is too good from its active battle systems to the very likeable characters and its quest and storyline. Any person who enjoys RPG's as much as i do should love this game. 5 stars all the way!!

computer monitor vs. tv?

Hi guys~

I used to have my 27inch HDTV connected to my computer.
And then when I switched to 19inch LCD monitor, I was able to see a noticable difference
in terms of quality of display.
It's not because of resolution and I just couldn't tell exactly what the reason was.

And today, I helped my friend build his computer.
He connected it to his 50inch 1080p plasma TV, and I was easily able to tell that the quality was below any computer monitors that i've ever seen.

Another experience I had was that xbox360 connected to my 24inch LCD samsaung syncmaster monitor was so bad but my pc looks good on my monitor and my xbox360 looks good on my 27inch HDTV.

I came up with a conclusion that monitor is optimized for PC and gaming consoles are optimized for HDTV.

However, I don't really understand why it should be like that if resolutions for both monitor and TV are the same. No matter how hard I tweak the options on tv, it won't be able to immitate the monitor quality.

Could someone tell me why pc looks bad on TV?

When I google searched topics between monitor vs. TV, it seems everyone is talking about how small monitor could have higher resolution than big TV....and they kept talking about the resolution difference. It's true but it seems no one knows the truth that resolution isn't everything and pc looks much better on pc monitor.

Thank you in advance and hopefully someone will put an answer that can teach everyone a new lesson and they should never use TV as an alternative of computer monitor.
Edit 1: I am aware of cable qualities. I always use the top quality HDMI cables for both HDTV and LCD LED monitors so this is not the type of answers I am looking for.
Edit 2: I am also aware of quality of videocards and what they are capable of. I use ATI 6850 and my friend has 6870 and I tested on 1080p of monitor and 1080p tv so there is no difference in terms of resolution and quality of videocards used to test on diff display setting. That's not the answer I am looking for either. I am not talking about quality of computer or cable. I am only talking about TV vs. Monitor.

Answer
TVs tend to have lower resolutions in bigger screens, anf also have good built-in scaler chips (to scale non-native resolutions to the display) as they will have lots of different resolutions sent to them (probably 10+ just from different xbox games)

PC monitors don't have good scalers built-in (and some don't even have any at all!) making them rather rubbish for displaying non-native resolution input such as console games (1280X600 on a 1920X1080 screen? without a good scaler is ugly... and thats near best case scenario, some things like the wii are only at 852x480)

So yeah basically,
TV -> PC - low pixel density
Monitor -> Console - rubbish scaler.

I want to buy a HDTV 24 inch Monitor for PC?

emankcin

I already know i want a 1080p/i capable monitor, 2m or 5m, but what else should i look for. Such as contrast ratio and refresh timing.

Answer
The higher the refresh rate and contrast ratio the better for movie and TV watching. You really have to go and look at a monitor before buying. Don't buy it completely on specs. Manufacturers play around with numbers.

1080i is not 1080p ... to get true 1080p you need a resolution of at least 1920 X 1080. Some monitors are capable of 1920 X 1200 which is better for computing and can give you 1080p as well of course.

The number one thing to look for is amount of colour. I bought an Acer and the colour seemed washed out. I ended up buying a Samsung to watch movies and TV on in the livingroom and using the Acer for my computer. I can still watch blueray movies on the computer, but the higher contrast ratio and more colour on the Samsung makes movies and TV look better. But the Samsung is really dark for evil games which are at night or dark. So the Acer is fine for computer games. You don't really need rich colours for that. It has a faster response time of 2ms vs 5ms which is great for games.

The connections on the back of the monitor are really important too. You want at least two HDMI connections, a DVI and a component connection.

Remember, your video card has to support HDCP to watch blueray movies. I use a DVI to HDMI converter on the back of my video card and an HDMI cable to connect to the 24" Acer monitor's HDMI input. It has no DVI in, only VGA for computer.

So the more variety of connections on the back of the monitor, contrast ratio and richness of colour are very important. The sharpness of picture and bleeding of light around the edges of the screen is the reason you have to view before you buy. Also cheap monitors bleed colour between objects.

The stand is also an issue. If the monitor is on a table that moves, you can't have a wobbily stand.

Is there a Gaming Monitor?

Q. Okay, is there such thing as a Computer moniter that can connect to a PS3 AND a Computer tower? I wanna have a setup like this

Tower right next to PS3, both connected to the monitor. being able to play videogames, and browse the web, can someone give me some links?

Answer
Of course. Any monitor that has an HDMI input (to work with the PS3) and another input (DVI, HDMI or VGA that works with PCs) can be used in that manner.

I have a Dell U2410, which has an HDMI port and a DVI port. Got my PS3 Slim on HDMI and my PC on DVI, and all I have to do is push the Input Select button on the monitor bezel to switch between the two. Very convenient.

Good gaming laptop/computer suggestions?

Idk Idk

I to get a new laptop or computer just for gaming. I need to know
what would you suggest?

whats the price range?

will gaming LAPTOPS be ok to play like, sims 3 and stuff?

will a desktop gaming computer work any better?

thanks (:!
Also what brands of gaming laptops are best c:?

Answer
Gaming laptops are always going to be a bit slower and a bit more expensive than gaming desktops. This is because laptops must use much less power than a desktop to avoid overheating, and because they require more research and engineering to assemble and design, respectively.

On that note, the best "bang for your buck" when it comes to gaming on a laptop, if you're really dead set on being able to carry your gaming around, is one with an AMD A8 processor. It combines a speedy quad-core processor and very capable graphics chip in one part. This is more cost effective than buying an Intel laptop with an upgraded graphics chip while achieving the same gaming performance.

The A8 could easily run Sims 3. I linked two examples of A8 laptops in my source. To see exact game speeds, scroll down and look on the left: http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Radeon-HD-6620G.54675.0.html

With a gaming desktop, any PC with a Radeon 5700 or 6600 or higher; or, an Nvidia GeForce GTS 450 or GTX 550 or higher; will be able to run games fluently. The price of a system like this should be around the $600 mark while performing better than most $1,000 laptops.

If you're curious about laptop reliability, see this article: http://www.engadget.com/2009/11/17/laptop-reliability-survey-asus-and-toshiba-win-hp-fails/

What is the best gaming desktop computer or laptop that is cheap, say around $500-$1000?

Q. My acer computer just recently broke and im looking for something i can preferably play world of warcraft on, thats pretty much all i do except play random flash games and stuff.

Answer
Manufactured desktop gaming computers are not usually going to be within that range. That's when people pretty much build computers themselves. You save a load of money at that point. Laptops for gaming under 1k... I would look at the Dell XPS computers. They seem to be pretty dependable, and have a good set of specifications.

Building your own computer, for about $700 you can get a computer that would normally cost $1,200 in the stores. Just a make-model would add $200 to a computer as opposed to what they actually would cost.

But for WOW and Flash games, I would stick to mid-range computers. Gaming is mainly looking for the high-end games. If you want the possibility for that, look at the XPS, otherwise stick to the more affordable ones.

LCD 32 inch HD TV for gaming?

Tom

Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone could anyone recommend a good 32 inch HD LCD TV with a frame rate under 8ms. I donât really want to spend over $800 unless I really have to. I remember I did see a Toshiba TV for seven-hundred something dollars, so I know they are out there, but I donât know if Toshiba makes good TVs or not. Any brand will do, just try to keep it to a bigger and well known brand. Also take into consideration that because I will be using this TV for gaming, it should have some ports, such as HDMI etc. Also take into consideration that this T.V. should have a descent picture quality, but it doesnât have to be amazing like those more expensive TVs because itâs going to go in my bedroom, not my living room. Thanks everyone and I will give someone 10 points for the best answer.

Answer
OK...Well I dont know why you really wanna go under 8MS. I use a 32inch LCD Samsung (model lns32d) I have no ghosting with it what so ever. In fact let me tell you my set up with it. I have me PS3 hooked up with Hdmi (looks so Sweet) I have my Wii hooked up with it as well and it looks great too. 8ms is a good value for gaming. Now let me warn you if you stress to much on it and it is not going to budge with you to be careful. A lot of people advertise 2ms response time and etc. Like my monitor for example. but that's Grey and not color. So the true response time is still 8ms. If PRICE ! is more worry then anything else. I would recommend you go with Olevia. I have that one in my bedroom and it is as well 32inch LCD. I picked it up for $500. That as well has an 8ms response time. Now for the question concerning Toshiba they make a great TV. but they are not known as much on warranty follow threw. Pros and cons man. For you I still Recommend the Olevia. Good Luck. (BTW: Side note) When you get your system hooked up and need an HDMI cable please go to www.newegg.com so much cheaper then retail stores. If you are worried about quality I want you to google HDMI Cable scam.

Good Luck

Should i game on my 32 inch LCD monitor?

Knightligh

This is my PC build:
Cooler Master HAF 922
ASUS M4A89TD Pro AM3 DDR3 ATX AMD 870 SB850 6 GB USB 3.0 Motherboard
Phenom II X4 95 Quad Core Processor AM3 3.2GHZ Black Edition
Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB 7200RPM 32MB Dual Proc SATA 3.5IN Hard Drive
LG GH22NS50 Black 22X SATA DVD Writer
AeroCool FP-01
Sapphire Radeon HD 5850 725MHZ 1GB 4.0GHZ GDDR5 PCI-E Display Port 2XDVI HDMI
Antec Truepower Quattro 850W Power Supply ATX V2.2 EPS12V 20/24PIN Active PFC 80PLUS Dual 8PIN PCI-E

I am wondering if i can run lets just say crysis on my 32 inch 720p LCD TV with a good fps and resolution, because i dont really feel like buying a smaller monitor, and also because i am spending about 330$ on my HD 5850.

Answer
You're computer can handle it easy but if you're running on a 720p tv then the highest resolution you'll get is 720p (1280x720) which is pretty low, especially on a screen that big. It won't look good.

Problem with monitor!!!?

Leon

ok when I start a 3d game installed or downloaded in my computer, after some time, my monitor screen does a problem like a low signal tv but with horizontal lines and changing color parts.these games are [ran online halo(deleted),nfs underground(deleted),battlestrike(deleted)]. regardless of pc requirements, at first around early 2011, this problem didn't occur, after around may-june, this happened(it doesn't happen on plants vs zombies).

when I start these games first it starts out fine then the monitor problem occurs, then it hangs or lags. ive been trying to play ran online but it bugs me.it can only be stopped when i shut down the computer then start it again. I tried taking a screen picture but when i daved it and restarted the computer, the picture didn't show the monitor problem. help

Answer
I cant say anything except the fact there is a problem with ur graphics card. Either it doesnt have enough memory or that it may be loose and the comp is working on gpu( integrated graphics). Try to re-install the graphics card.

What is a good Gaming PC configuation?

TMNT :] [

Well, I'm pretty bad at this stuff. I started looking at CyberPower.com but I keep making it 1.7+ Over. I have a max budget at around 1.2k, can go a little over. I want to run games like Crysis 2 (I'm putting that as my example for the graphical part) well, I want to run those graphics with good frames you know. Right now I have a Laptop...and It's pretty bad. Haha, I want it to be put together already, I don't want to take the risk to make it by myself. I don't care what it looks like. Please include a decent Mouse/Keyboard , and just the cheapest headset. Monitor!

Answer
Hi

Well, one thing i would suggest you is to make a custom build PC rather than go for CyberPower because that itself is going to save your 200-300$ with same configuration.

Here is the article that might help you for your custom built configurations :-

http://letschangeindia.in/topic/11-best-pc-within-budget-updated-june-2011/

Just go for all the recommended specs mentioned their and you can build your own gaming rig at approx 900$.

& yes, you can run all games including Crysis 2 at high settings without any lag :)

Save rest of money for future upgradation :)

Computer Games!!!?

I love to play on the computer what is your favorite pc game? Dont say sims because i already love that one!

Answer
There are many cool games for the computer, but my favorites are:

Maplestory - a cute 2d side scroller, and it's free!

Guild Wars - an amazing looking 3D game with stunning graphics, great game play, and only a one time fee.

Warcraft III/Starcraft - Same idea in game play, fun custom games, perfect your skills! One time only fee!

Final Fantasy XI - If you've played Final Fantasy, you'll love this. One of the best RPG's with nice graphics, and it has a FINAL FANTASY THEME!

WoW - One of the best 3D RPG's out there! Great game play, interesting battle/boss systems, but there is a monthly fee!

Gunbound - a 2D shooter! control mini bots and fight other people. Free!

America's Army - a Great free 3D FPS! Stunning graphics, realistic gameplay, and it's completely free!

CS 1.6 - Great FPS! One of the more popular ones! One time fee.

Rakion - a head to head team battle! 3D fighting game. Free2Play!

Gunz - a fast paced shooter with many weapons and nice graphics. Matrix style gameplay! Free2Play!

Battlefield 2142 - Great FPS with awesome graphics, realistic gameplay!

Everquest/Everquest 2 - never played them but everyone thinks they are great games.

Unreal Tournament - Godly FPS with STUNNING graphics, intuitive game play, never a dull moment!

Crysis - Great FPS with flawless graphics, interesting gameplay, perfect scenarios, one of the best!

THE SIMS - BEST GAME EVER!

Some games I used to play! Still into Guild Wars and the Sims though. Hope you find some of these interesting!

Is there a website where i can custom build a gaming computer?

zemfira

I recently bought an alienware aurora but had to return because of some technical issues. now i want to custom build my own gaming computer so i can play battlefield 3. is there any website where i can do that? not too expensive like brand name companies like dell cause they are over priced. thankyou

Answer
http://www.newegg.com/ is really the best place to buy individual components and build it yourself. It is also the most cost effective way of buying a computer. I am not gonna say that Newegg has the cheapest prices but I will say that when dealing with http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/landingpages/intel/i7/?gclid=COeD8crVxasCFZBb7AodMzMu5w OR http://www.ibuypower.com/ you are going to pay for labor. While it is more convenient having another company build for you you are going to be paying a premium that could be applied to better components if you build it yourself. You can visit many ehow and youtube videos that will show you exactly how to install each component. Watching enough of them will show you how relatively easy it is to build your own. I have answered many a question ( http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20110715122520AAVPwVd and the FOLLOW up http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AoR_u0IL7wFJjmnCqTPXXcwhBgx.;_ylv=3?qid=20110716081819AA7k7T7 for example ) where only a little confidence was needed to install a particular part. There isn't any soldering or uber technical skills needed to build your own. The only thing you need is some information which can be gleened from the internet and patience. It's like a puzzle really. If you pay attention to details and NEVER FORCE anything it will go smoothly. You can also search newegg for DiY kits http://www.newegg.com/Store/MasterComboStore.aspx?StoreID=7&Tpk=diy . Amazon also has many kits as well.http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_1_8?url=search-alias%3Delectronics&field-keywords=barebones+computer+kit&sprefix=barebone Some kits are kind of lopsided as components go so I still prefer buying the parts individually. If you are worried about compatibility the DiY kits are the way to go or you can of course pick and choose parts from Newegg and come back here to ask us about compatibility issues.

Best website to order custom gaming computers?

Tyler Goss

Im looking to order a nice gaming computer from online, and i was wondering whats the best website to do so? My budgets around 900-950, i was planning ordering an alienware, but then i heard that not only are they really expensive, but they have alot of problems, and then i was going to order from cyberpowerpc.com, but then i heard that those computers have alot of trouble, ( cables broken on arrival, cd/dvd drives crooked, etc.) so whats the best website?

Answer
Well the BEST option is to order all the components online from NewEgg, Tiger Direct or Amazon and assemble everything yourself. But if you want the whole rig built and tested...

Cyber Power PC is fine. Probably the best site for a budget gaming computer- slightly better than Ibuypower (although now it appears they're the same company, selling both brands)

Here's the deal with problem units from Cyberpower (and Ibuypower):

The broken/DOA computers are usually ones purchased through other retailers who sell their standard pre-built models, and it almost always due to shipping/handling damage. The ones purchased directly from Cyberpower's site are fine. We purchased a couple and they've been rock solid. However, Cyberpower IS a budget brand... they don't use particularly high quality cases on their stock builds that are carried by Wal-Mart, Newegg etc. So it's easy for hard bumps/jolts to dislodge the drive bay covers, make a DVD drive crooked etc.

I think the more hands their units pass through before reaching the end user, the greater the chance that someone will mishandle the box and something gets knocked loose.

You might check Frys for Velocity Micro computers... those are nice performers and very well built.

good monitor? good for gaming?

samrrozzi

I am looking to upgrade my pc monitor FINALLY. I have a pretty high end pc gaming rig and only a 15inch gateway lcd lol. So I am looking for a decent monitor. some that that looks nice AND performs well. My budget is around 150$ - 160$ish. Try to be nothing more if possible. (the lower the better )

I am looking for a screen size of atleast 19inches no bigger then 24 maybe?

also I would like for it to have good color levels. I dont like it when blacks look grey and not black

Answer
For gaming, go for a widescreen.
I've personally a widescreen 20", but it will go over your budget i guess. It's gaming monitor from NEC 20WGX2.

If your looking about 150-160$ look for a widescreen Samsung with about 2ms response time. These panels are not bad. Other good companys are Eizo (expensive), Viewsonic, Iiyama and Sony (expensive).

Best Monitors For Photo Retouching?

Brad

Please help!

I need to select a monitor for photo retouching. I'm a seasoned photographer stuck with a subpar monitor of a Macbook Pro. Not discounting Macs or trying to get into a Windows vs. Mac debate. All I want is a recommendation for a monitor with the truest possible color for my budget.

I know I don't have a lot but my budget tops out at about $250.
This means I can probably get something better but refurbished.

Please let me know your thoughts.
I've heard good things about Dell Ultrasharps.

Answer
With you budget, you are out of the game

My guess is you need to up your fees so you can spend $800 to $2,500 on a good monitor that has a wide AdobeRGB gamut.

Some Dell Ultrasharps do have such wide gamuts, but they are rather small, 21.5 inches.

Why does my PS3 lag offline on most games on 23 inch full 1080p LED PC monitor ?

WILDLEGHOR

So for 2 years I've played on my PC which was a very powerful rig ! But recently last week, I bought a PS3 Slim & I've been noticing some lag (basically rendering lag,) on most games like KZ2 (appears to run in about 35 to 40 fps & not 60), Fallout 3 GOTY (same problem), etc ! Overall the gameplay is smooth & fps are constant but it feels to me that I'm getting about 35-40 fps on all games & not more than that ! Why is this so ? Is it because I've been gaming on my powerful PC rig in the past @ 60fps ? Is it because of my small size of PC monitor (using HDMI though !)? Can someone name me some games that run a.) full 1080p b.) 60fps constant (a. & b. can be different) ? It's getting more than enough air-flow as I've placed a big ass giant table fan in front of it & after touching it for more than 5 hour, I can safely say it's not overheating or getting hot AT ALL !! It's mildly hot (but as you'd except, not more) !

What do you guys think is it me being paranoid (especially because I gamed on my powerful PC for so long) ? Is this the same feeling everyone gets while playing ? Or is it just me ? Will buying a 40+ inch HDTV solve my problem to some extent ! PLz.. tell me the cheapest price of a 40 inch full HDTV (don't care about company/manufacturer, i just want an estimation of cheapest quality 40inch HDTV) ? What do you think ? Can this be because of a cheap HDMI cable (red in colour)

Any PC gamer turned to PS3 gamer's advice would be really helpful, also someone gaming a PS3 on 25 inch or low monitor advice would be appreciated !

Answer
Your problem actually stems from your PS3 and not your monitor. Had the same problem when I switched to a PS3 when my PC blue-screened on me. Also, contrary to popular opinion, Fallout 3 GOTY is not perfect. In fact, a week into buying the game, i had 7 freezes and 2 crashes on my Fallout 3 GOTY, on a MONTH OLD PS3 ! The size of the monitor doesn't matter, as I run mine on a 21 inch LG monitor at 720p. My advice to you would be, if you have such a powerful PC, play Fallout on said PC. Leave the PS3 for console-only games. I've always noticed Fallout working better on the PC anyway.

Best monitor/led tv for ps4 gaming and pc?

Jordan

My budgets £350 Iive in the uk so vizio ones aren't available here, anyways I'm looking for a monitor/led tv between 26-32in in size that are atleast 120hz and full hd 1080p. And would like to try and get a stylish looking one but not needed. These are pretty must the must have feature but any others that would be and advantage for gaming like good sound and game mode setting is a plus

Answer
I think 27 inch is the perfect size since it is for both pc and console. You should go with something like ViewSonic VX2770SMH.

http://www.amazon.com/ViewSonic-VX2370SMH-LED-23-Inch-Monitor-Frameless/dp/B008RM235I/ref=as_li_tf_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&tag=informazcom-20

It is 27 inch and has 1920 x 1080p and it is 120hz. It has 1 hdmi slot for your ps4 :D. And it has gaming mode. Viewsonic brand is really reputable and they have good review.

It has a built in speaker but since it has an external audio input, if you have a surround speaker you can easily plug in. Hope my answer helped!!

Good PS3 Games? And other questions.?

Any

I'm getting a PS3 this month, I'm probably going to get the Black Ops Bundle if they still have them for sale. I love Black Ops, I have a copy for my wii, I'm a big fan of any genre. What are some good games for PS3? And which are good to get to play online with? I was thinking of getting Portal 2, RDR and some others, it really doesn't matter what kind of game 'cause I like them all xD Also is 160 GB big enough to hold game data + DLC + 50 or less songs? I'm not planning to movies or download full games, only thing I'll want to put on my PS3 are the game data and whatever DLC I buy and a few songs maybe, how many games can it hold? Also should I get a gaming headset? I was looking at the P11, it has some good reviews. And should I get a stand? Which way is best to have the PS3, horizontal or vertical? I have carpet flooring so idk if it'll block the vents or something D: Also feel free to give me any other info a new PS3 gamer should know, thank you :D
Also one more questions, should I get a surge protector? I've gotten power surges a few times and it makes my wii not go on for a day or so, not sure if it would fry my PS3 or something D:

Answer
Well my favorite game for PS3 is Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. It's a very, very good third person shooter/adventure game which is a PS3 exclusive. Also Assassins Creed 2 & Brotherhood are epic conspiracy games. AC1 is a bit repetitive though, but if you want to understand the story I suggest you play it first. Also Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is a very good first person shooter as an alternative to COD. And one more game I would recommend is GTA IV, one of the best games I have ever played.

Get a gaming headset if you plan on playing online. In games like COD, Battlefield and really any other first person shooters it can often be handy having a mic. I have previously owned the Turtle Beach Ear Force P11 and had no problems over the two years I used it. It is really lightweight and rugged and the sound quality is top notch for a average priced mic. It also features bass boost, independent volume controls and mic monitor, which allows you to hear what you say into your mic.

I have a 120gb Slim PS3 and I think it is great. 120gb should be enough to hold what you have mentioned. It depends on how much space each game takes up if you are wondering how many will fit on the hard drive. I wouldn't bother with a stand though, I think the PS3 runs better in it's original horizontal position. And as for a surge protector, if you have had problems in the past I would recommend one because power surges can stuff up your PS3 big time. Hope I helped :D

Which LED Monitor should I buy for my PC?

I just need a 19" LED Monitor. I'm confused with brands LG/Samsung/BenQ. Just help me to select a good monitor (LED)

Can I make a gaming computer for under 500 dollars?

Justin

I would like to build a good computer that can run games smooth for under 500 dollars. I have someone helping me build it so I just need to buy the parts. I was wondering what parts I can buy and how many fps games will run with the parts.

Answer
The fool above me forgot ram, power supply, and operating software, arguably the most important things.

Oh, and bull shit to his 15 years computer building experience. You don't forget about those things, just don't listen to him.

/sigh

For 500 you really can't build anything that would run games. I'm sorry, but you really can't. If you plan on playing games you will need about a 700-900 dollar budget and with that you can get an entry level PC. If you can't afford that I would really suggest just buying a video game console such as the PS3 or Xbox 360.

With 1000 dollars I can build this;

Intel i3-2130 - 140
Intel H67 mobo - 110
8gb 1333mhz ram - 50
Radeon 6870 - 170
Corsair CX500 psu - 60
WD blue 500gb 7200rpm hard drive - 100
Generic DVD drive - 40
Zalman z9 plus case - 70
Windows 7 64bit OEM - 100

So this will be a well working machine capable of maxing alot of games, with an affordable price tag. Total comes to 840, assuming you have peripherals

is this a good gaming computer build for under 500 dollars?

i would have gotten a better graphics card but i got this one for dirt cheap from a friend and ill upgrade in time just on a tight budget to start easier for me to upgrade piece by piece as i save money

Answer
Go with my build, it's better because I choose a bigger better Graphics card witch is the most importent part in a gameing build. I had to get a lower end CPU but it is well worth it with the GPU upgrade. Aslo your loosing 500 GB as i went down to 1 TB in order to bring the price rite!

Price: $552.27

Understood, Then just drop off the Graphics card I picked out & go with the one you got off your friend. At that point it will be even cheaper.

Third Link: You should go with this Motherboard, it's the 990FX witch is the top in the AMD world to date. Other than that, your 550 watt PSU will do just fine, but you will need to upgrade that sooner or later. The reason you should go with my Motherboard choice is because I have owned the 970 & the 990FX blows it out of the water, It's more stable & pretty mush the best board on the market to date. You will be much more happy with it than the 970. O & you should stick with Lite on DvD Drives never ever had an issue with them, Adding on my MB will cost $546.87 witch includes shipping.

Triple monitor setup?

Q. Can I use a GeForce 9600 along with the original video card in this Dell computer to support a triple monitor setup?

It's for my office - not gaming.

Thanks for your help!

Answer
Usually adding a physical video card to a desktop PC deactivates the integrated graphics, but that does depend on the particular model.

If you haven't already purchased the card, one of the Radeon HD 5xxx series will give you triple monitor support directly from the card. You do have to have either the right type of monitors or adapters to convert from the card connections to the monitor inputs.

How good is the GeForce 8800 GTS?

Michael

I have an Intel Core 2 Duo e6550
2GB RAM at 667MHz
400GB HD 7200RPM
Vista Home Premium
24' HP Monitor at 1900x1200 Native Resolution

I'm willing to spend the money on this, I just can't afford the GTX or Ultra though, as long as I won't have to upgrade again for a while.

What's your opinion on whether or not this card is worth the money and if with my system, and a new power supply, I would be able to play all the newer games like Bioshock - maybe Crysis - and DX10 games?

Answer
It is very good. It is about twice as fast as an 8600 GT or GTS at about twice the price, and about half as fast as the GTX or Ultra at about half the price. At 1900x1200 resolutions, it is near the bottom of what works well.
For (old) comparisions see:
http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphics_2007.html?modelx=33&model1=854&model2=778&chart=279

Note that on some games, the 640MB vs 320MB versions makes little difference, while on others it is big (2 to 1)

For a good comparison tool with overclocking settings:
http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php?card1=513&card2=475

Note that within a year or two, games will probably outstrip all of the current boards and the differences in the high end boards will become more noticable.

Gaming Monitor Recommendations?

JamesisJex

I'm wanting to make a gaming rig I already got some educated advice for cards and a cpu but one thing I'm going to need its a top notch monitor. My price range 150-250$. I'd like to pay the least amount possible but i do need the quality so recommendations?
Note, I'm considering 3D but I think it's a gimmick so I don't want to pay extra for it, but it would be cool.

Answer
Im very happy with the Dell U2311H I just purchased. If you want a monitor for movies AND games you should look into 1080p monitors (unless the black borders don't bother you, then a 1900x1200 should be fine).

The dell U2311H is an 8-bit ips monitor. All TN panels are 6-bit, and use dithering to display the full 16.7 million colors that a 8-bit panel can produce without dithering.

IPS is notorious for having a better picture and color reproduction than TN panels. IPS is also notorious for being slower, but with this 8ms Dell model I don't notice much difference coming from a 5ms TN. I play FPS games too and its fine for me.

Google tftcentral for some good reviews, check out some of the new monitors. If you are going for a TN panel I recommend the Samsung PX2370 LED or the XL2370-1 LED. IPS picture is much prettier though not quite as fast.

The Dell U2711 is a really good monitor as well that I may of considered if I wanted to spend three times the price.

I am convinced that the Dell U2311 (23inch) is the best monitor money can buy for around $250 US if you buy it with a sale and/or coupon. The 24 inch U2411 is $500 and is wide gamut - which is a whole different topic

There should be an option from your graphics card panel about monitor configuration or something similar.

laptop motherboards and graphics cards are proprietary, and not sold to the public.

You can build a mini-itx desktop. Its not much bigger then a laptop and you can get a smaller sized monitor for it.
maybe something like the bitfenix prodigy case. Its small, good airflow and has handles for carrying.

The new Z87 chipsets have some nice mini-itx boards available.

so get like an i5-4xxx cpu, a mini-itx Z87 motherboard and w/e graphics card you can afford.

What is a good motherboard that supports AM2 Processor Sockets with a AGP Video Slot?

frookagook

I want one that is stable and doesnt get to hot during gaming
i already know these stuff but im asking for a motherboard which supports am2 processor sockets with a agp video slot

Answer
This is so wrong at so many levels.

Intel makes the most stable processors

Intel makes the three fastest CPU types. Core 2 Extreme, Quad Core, and Core 2 Duo.

Core 2 Duo runs cooler than AMD processors

AGP video cards are obsolete. Get a PCI Express X16 Video slot on the motherboard.

what is the difference between video card interfaces SLI, PCI-e, and PCI-e16?

athorgarak

If you have seen my other computer related Question, you will know that I am stuck in the last generation AGP 8X. I just wondered if their is an interface difference
Thank you all for the help. For the record, I was NOT confused about PCI (which comes in three standards) and AGP and PCI-e. I just did not know the dif between PCI-e and SLI

Answer
PCI, AGP and PCI Express X16 use different slots. You can not adapt a slot to use a card made for another type of slot.

The newest and best cards use a PCI Express X16 slot. If you upgrade to a fast PCI Express X16 card you should immediately see the difference in gaming applications assuming your the rest of your computer is not outdated.

Graphics Cards Buses and their Max Bandwidth

PCI 132 MB/s
AGP 4X # 1,066 MB/s
AGP 8X # 2,100 MB/s
PCI Express 16x 8000 MB/s

SLI refers to installing 2 video cards and attaching a link between them to allow the two cards communicate between each other and to run faster that one card can. Almost always it is less expensive to buy a faster card that does not need to be run in SLI mode than to buy 2 cards to run in SLI mode.

SLI mode will require 2 PCI Express X16 slots. Also the games will have to be written to be able to use SLI mode if there is to be any performance gain at all.

How do I build a Gaming Computer and what is everything I need?

gaming monitor youtube

Christophe

I need to know how to build a computer. I know pretty much nothing on this topic so I would need help a lot. Possible for me to buy the parts and if there is a place where I can have someone build it for me. I also need to know everything needed for a gaming computer. I would like to run games like Skyrim, World of Warcraft, and many other games like this. And just pretend like I have no price range, but keep in mind that I am a 15 year old.

Answer
I bought everything for mine off of Newegg.com and one or two things off of Amazon.com. I've heard of Tiger-Direct being a good place to buy from also.
Newegg has a section of computer hardware that is very helpful to find what you are looking for. They also have a series of videos on how to build a computer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPIXAtNGGCw

Some examples of what you would need (there are many different prices so you just have to research what you want):
1) A case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119160

2) Memory (RAM) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231357

3) Power Supply http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182084

4) Processor (CPU) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115095&Tpk=2700k

5) Graphics Card(s) (GPU) (I recommend only buying one because SLI and Crossfire tend to be choppy or not fully supported in many games). http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130781 (This is like an ultimate graphics card that will run anything)

6) Hard Drive http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136533

7) Motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188122

8) Mouse, keyboard, speakers, screen/monitor.

That makes up what you need inside the computer. Optional things to put inside include a better fan for your CPU, an SSD (Solid State Drive), or a wireless card to allow for wireless internet.

The power supply must have enough Watts for all of your parts which can be determined here: http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp

The motherboard should be considered the base of your computer. All parts must be compatible with it in order for the computer to work. Even the case must be able to hold it, and if you get a full sized tower (case) then it should be able to hold whatever you buy. When you buy the computer you have to read the motherboard instructions and determine where to plug in everything, and watching the Newegg videos will help with that.

what is the chepast way to build a gaming pc from scratch?

Hi I am thinking of building a gaming pc from scratch and I want to know what the best parts are and whats the cheapest parts I could get to build a gaming pc?

Answer
I will suggest you to go for i5 @2.6 GHz 4th Generation
4GB RAM 1600 MHz
500 GB HDD 7200 RPM
Nvidia GTX 550 at least or GTX 560 minimum for playing games at 1200 x 720 MAXOUT settings
19 Inch TFT (I still find it better than LED ) monitor 1440 x 900 Resolution
A Sony Combo dual layer DVD writer
A simple 3 tray cabinet for extra cooling
normal keyboard mouse
normal 2.1 speaker
550 W power supply (depending on what graphics card you installing)
A Genetic USB Gamepad like frontech JIL 1731 will do ( Use x360ce app to stimulate it as xbox 360 controller ) Can play almost all game (I Did played all till date , you can find proof on my youtube channel MrNeroYoung)

and company of RAM , HDD, Graphics card wont matter when building entry level gaming PC. Just compare few of manufacturers and get the best out of it in ratio of price and performance that suits you best.
Plus Minus you can make changes. It will cost around 35k-40k rupee in India which is aprox. 600 $ plus minus 50$.

If you want a laptop for gaming then got for HP Pavilion 15 n013tx, the best at it's price, around 733$

this should be sufficient by far to throw anything at it.

the rest of the parts (HDD, BR/DVD/CD, monitor, keyboard & mouse) are not that important and are up to you.

Would this be a good gaming computer build for the price?

AirWorthyF

I am trying to build my first gaming computer, but I am on a limited budget ($640 including mouse and keyboard- not monitor since I already have one). It also goes without saying, I have little clue on what I am doing.

I am planning to use this build for the latest FPS games (such as CoD, battlefied), portal, as well as some less demanding games such as minecraft. I dont need to max out the settings, But i would love to be on high for those.

If you think I should replace some components for this build please tell me why and which component I should choose instead. But within my budget limit please.

This is the build:

CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor $120 w/ promo code so $110

CPU Cooler: Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 45.0 CFM Fluid Dynamic Bearing CPU Cooler $23

Motherboard: ASRock 970 EXTREME4 ATX AM3+ Motherboard $100

Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1333 Memory $60

Storage: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1333 Memory $65 $5 mail in-rebate so $60

Video Card: Asus Radeon HD 7770 2GB Video Card $133 $15 mail in-rebate so $118

Case: Antec One ATX Mid Tower Case $56 $10 mail in-rebate so $46

Power Supply: Corsair Builder 430W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply $40
$20 mail in rebate so $20

Keyboard: Corsair Raptor K30 Wired Gaming Keyboard $50

Mouse: Corsair Raptor M40 Wired Optical Mouse $54

What do you guys think?

Answer
It's a nice set up. But if I were you I should do this:
Buy an 500/600 watt power supply (for later upgrades and make sure your pc has enough power)

8Gb RAM is more than enough. And buy 2x 4Gb of an brand which is not expensive.
You'll save money, of that money buy an I5 processor instead an amd fx-6300!

If you have an Nvidia graphics card I would suggest in trying out 3D Vision, since you have an unlimited budget.

I haven't personally gotten to experience 3D gaming, but the list of compatible games is a mile long and I can imagine it would be very cool.

What is wrong with my connection speed and how can i fix it?

gaming monitor latency

-My internet service provider is optimum.
-I have a wireless router (purchased last year) and a modem (upgraded last year as well).

My actual internet seems to be fine but the problem is downloading, uploading, and playing online games (xbox live). My connection was great up until a week ago, where I began lagging in every online game I played, which was unbearable, and nearly impossible. I use Netflix frequently which seems to be very slow as well, along with downloading any program on my laptop (wont download), uploading videos to youtube (have done it once since the problem occurred but took about 5 hours+ to upload), and I really need to know what can possibly be done to fix this.

I have also tried testing my connection on sites such as speedtest.net and speakeasy.net and came to the conclusion that my ping is at 10ms, download speed is at .81mbps and my upload speed is at .06mbps. im not very tech savyy but im pretty sure that is not very good. any help would be great! thanks!

Answer
Ping is super.

Download and upload speeds suck, big time.

What speed are you paying for?

Optimum is a cable Internet provider, Most cable Internet plans are 10 Mbps+ with offerings in some areas in excess of 300 Mbps.

Unless that is a super budget 768 Kbps plan, You need to try and power cycle your equipment.

Connect a PC or laptop directly to one of the router LAN ports via Ethernet and follow these steps in this specific order.

1. Unplug power cables on the router and modem.

2. Plug in the modem and wait a minute or two to establish a Internet connection.

3. Plug in the router.

4. Reboot your computer to have the router DHCP service assign a new IP address to your computer.

5. You can test your Internet connection speed here: http://speedtest.net

If the Ethernet Internet connection works fine then try the wireless connections.

Wireless signals are affected by many factors including wall density, electrical interference, directional antenna range, etc.

All of these factors will affect your actual wireless range. As wireless connection quality varies the connection speeds are renegotiated. The connection may start at 54 Mbps and end up at less than 20 Mbps.

Just because a particular wireless router works good at one location does not guarantee that it will have similar performance in a different location due to variance in the factors listed above.

You should try to centrally locate your wireless router or gateway up high and away from dense walls and electrical and 2.4 GHz wireless interference such as microwave ovens, cordless phones, baby monitors, etc.

As I described above wireless connection quality can vary dramatically, for gaming this can cause lag in online games. Your latency (ping) may be 30 ms and wireless interference could cause it to spike to 200 ms or more. Wireless connections also have more overhead involved in the transfer of data such as the encryption / decryption used for wireless security.

The best solution would be to use a wired (Ethernet) connection between your gaming device and the router.

If it is not feasible to run cables you have other options such as powerline network adapters You plug one in by the router and one in the room where you need access and connect them to the devices with standard Ethernet patch cables. http://isp1.us/reviews/netgear-xavb2101-powerline-adapter/

The network signals are transmitted over your existing home electrical wiring which will not be affected by wireless interference.

In my opinion for a gaming connection I would run Ethernet or use powerline adapters.

However, if you need the wireless mobility there are various other ways to extend a Internet connection to areas with a weak wireless signal.

Devices such as wireless extenders that can expand your wireless range if need be. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004YAYM06/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=excharge-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B004YAYM06

The wireless range extender receives weak wireless signals and repeats them to extend the signal range to greater distances. Some models include 4 Ethernet ports in addition to the wireless radio.

Good Luck...

Can you use your Tv as a monitor for your gaming computer?

Wilcox

I've heard from many different sources that you can but there's more lag unless you have a powerful enough Pc, but then I hear there's no difference no matter what. In case it does have to do with specs here is my system.

Here are the specs.
Processor: AMD FX-6100 Zambezi 4.0GHz Socket AM3+ 95W Six-Core Desktop Processor FD6100WMGUSBX
Graphics card: AMD Radeon HD 7850 Graphics Card
Eyefinity, DirectX11 Support
1X HDMI, 2X DVi, 2X Display port Available
15% Overclock Available if desired
Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 1.5TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0GB/s3.5
32Mb Cache
Operating System: Windows 7
RAM: Skill Ripjaws X Series 12gb 240-Pin DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3 128000) Desktop Memory
CAS 9 Latency
Equipped with Advanced Aluminum Heat-Dispersing Shield

I'm planning on upgrading soon. So you could also give me some tips on what to upgrade. My price range is around 500$

Answer
The TV is pretty much a gigantic monitor, assuming you have a standard 1080p TV (no 4K or anything), you connect your PC to it.

Think about it, a PS3 or XBOX 360 doesn't have TV size requirements, meaning size of the TV doesn't affect performance.

I wouldn't recommend it though, because using the keyboard and mouse on a normal coffee table is very uncomfortable. It feels like typing on a desk while standing up.

If you don't know what I mean, try to type a paragraph while standing up.

For $500, you could

1. Upgrade your processor to something like a FX 8350 (sorry if I'm wrong, I'm not too sure about AMD sockets).

2. Get a better graphics card, such as a 7970 GHz edition or GTX 770

3. Of course SSD.

Other uses for $500

1. Gaming peripherals (mice, keyboards, headsets etc)

2. More monitors (Tri-monitor set-up since you can use Eyefinity)

3. Software (GAMES!!!)
