Cheapest computer build that can run Skyrim or BF3 on ultra?

Garrett Pi

I know nothing about building computers. All I know is I want to run big games on a larger sized monitor with no lag. I have the mouse and keyboard. No speakers though. Thanks :)

Answer
well garret, I will help you paraphrase your question since cheap and gaming computer are actually like oil and water, they cannot be mixed together.

What you want to know is the least expensive gaming PC that can max out BF3 on 1080p, am I correct???

well, The lowest card that can let you play BF3 on max settings on 1080p is the GTX 560 ti with an AVE FPS of 31.8:

http://bf3nation.com/2011/10/battlefield-3-graphic-card-benchmarks-from-580570-gtx-to-radeon-hd-69706900/

But if you wanted to have a smoother gameplay, then the lowest would be a GTX 560 ti 448 cores.

So I'll just give you this example of a build that can max out all games on 1080p including BF3:

Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz (3.7GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 3000 BX80623I52500K - $225

GIGABYTE GA-Z68A-D3H-B3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard - $115

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL - $47

Seagate Barracuda ST500DM002 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive - $86

EVGA 012-P3-2066-KR GeForce GTX 560 Ti (Fermi) 448 Cores FTW 1280MB 320-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card - $270 ($250 after rebate)

CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX850M 850W ATX12V v2.31 / EPS12V v2.92 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular High Performance Power Supply - $130 ($115 after rebate)

COOLER MASTER HAF 912 RC-912-KKN1 Black SECC/ ABS Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - $60 ($50 after rebate)

LITE-ON Internal 24x DVD-Writer 24X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 12X DVD+R DL 24X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM Black SATA Model iHAS324-99 - $22

inland 70126 Black 107 Normal Keys USB Wired Standard Keyboard / Mouse Combo - $13.79

inland Home/Office Series 88033 7.2 Watts 2.0 Speaker - $10

COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus RR-B10-212P-G1 "Heatpipe Direct Contact" Long Life Sleeve 120mm CPU Cooler Compatible Intel Core i5 & Intel Core i7 - $30

Acer G215HVAbd Black 21.5" 5ms Full HD WideScreen LCD Monitor 200 cd/m2 20,000:1 Max (ACM) - $130 (1080p)

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit - OEM - $100

TOTAL : $1238.79 ($1193.79 after rebate), this is a perfect COMPLETE PC for that price, this build could practically play all games on max settings on 1080p. The GTX 560 ti 448 cores is only slightly slower than the GTX 570 thus it is a great card. And also, this build is SLI ready since the PSU (corsair 850w) is excellent and can handle 2 way SLI of GTX 560 ti 448 cores on a high end system with overclocking.

NOTE : newegg parts and prices

Can this computer run this game to the max graphic and performance setting.?

Subarashii

I want to get the game Shogun 2 Total War that is coming up this March 15th 2011.
the specs of the game are this ones :

Minimum Specs (Required for playing Total War: Shogun 2):

- 2 GHz Intel Dual Core processor / 2.6 GHz Intel Single Core processor , or AMD equivalent (with SSE2)
- 1GB RAM (XP), 2GB RAM (Vista / Windows7)
- 256 MB DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics card (shader model 3)
- 1024x768 minimum screen resolution
- 20GB free hard disk space

Recommended Specs (Recommended for optimum game play of Total War: Shogun 2):

- 2nd Generation Intel® Coreâ¢i5 processor (or greater), or AMD equivalent
- 2GB RAM (XP), 4GB RAM (Vista / Windows7)
- AMD Radeon HD 5000 and 6000 series graphics cards or equivalent DirectX 11 compatible graphics card
- 1280x1024 minimum screen resolution
- 20GB free hard disk space

Now my current computer can't run this game on recommended, so I need to buy another computer, I was looking yesterday at the Acer Aspire E2102 which has this specs:

Acer Aspire AM5400-E2102 (Refurbished)
AMD Phenom II X6 1035T 2.6GHz,
8G DDR3,
1.5TB SATA,
ATI HD5750,
High-Definition Audio with 5.1,
SuperMulti DVD Writer, GigaLAN, Multi-in-1 Card Reader, Windows 7 Home Premium, Keyboard & Mouse

I was wondering do you think this computer can run the game with max graphics and performance ?
To add some additional information, the computer that I currently have is fairly good but in the game napoleon Total War, Empire Total war and medieval I seem that I can't run the game with ease at max graphics, I'm puzzle cause i went to the web site "can you run it" and my computer passes the minimum and even the recommended settings fairly well, so my question is how can I play the games to the fullest, Here is a video of a guy that is playing napoleon at full graphics.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WKYjwACeBvc you can see in the description of the video his specs.

My current specs are:
Nvidia Gforce 9300Ge
6.00 GB RAM
Inter(R) Core (TM)2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33 Ghz
Gaming Graphics 3071 MB Total available graphics memory.
Total available graphics memory 3071 MB
Dedicated graphics memory 256 MB

Specs of medieval 2 total war that is a fairly old game for example are these:

Recommended: Pentium 4/Athlon XP
I Have: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33GHz
CPU Speed
Recommended: 2.4 GHz
I Have: 2.3 GHz Performance Rated at: 5.06 GHz

RAM
Recommended: 1 GB
I Have: 6.0 GB

Video Card
Recommended: 100% compatible DirectX 9.0c 256 MB Hardware Accelerated video card with Shader 2 support and the latest drivers (NVIDIA GeForce 6800+
I Have: GeForce 9300 GE

Now why in the hell Can't I run it with all maxed out ?

Answer
I can't see why not.
But it might have low fps when the image gets too overcrowded, by that I mean too much action.

You AMD Phenom II X6 is a 6-core monster-of-a-CPU. This kind of processor won't have any problems with any game up to date.

The other thing is GPU. ATI HD5750 is a good 1GB Dedicated Video Memory GPU, it can run any game up to date with maximum setting, but might get "laggy" when going over the limits.
From my point of view, in order to perfectly run a game such as Shogun 2, on highest settings, the best thing to have is a Dual GPU of 2GB total dedicated video memory. No problems with that peace of machine infront of you.

8GB DDR3 is more than enough.

1.5TB SATA HDD. 1.5TB - 20GB = 1.48TB left. Should do!

HD Audio 5.1. Well, this is more than enough because the game can run without any Sound Card at all.

Keyboard & Mouse. Well you got yourself a bargain!!!

Anyway if you are still interested what machine would run this game perfectly:

CPU: Intel Core i7 2nd Generation Processors, Intel Core i7 9xx High Performance Processors or Equivalent AMD Processors with at least 4 cores.
RAMS: 8GB DDR3 is enough.
HDD: 256GB RAID "0"
GPU: Any Dual GPUs with 2GB or more dedicated video memory.
Audio: 15,000W Subwoofer and 24 speakers.
and last but not least: Keyboard & Mouse

Good Luck

Additional info:
Don't trust "Can you run it"
It's absolutely bollocks.
The recommended settings for Assasin's Creed Brotherhood CPU are Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Athlon 64 X2...both are 2.6GHz...I did not pass my one only because I have Intel i5, 2.53GHz in general, but what about Hyperthreading and Turbo Boost?
Also they don't seem to understand my GPU. Recommended requirements for the same game are 512MB of GPU, my one is 2GB, I've got a check mark there, and still failed, even tho my GPU is far more superior than the one in Recommended requirements.....
