gaming monitor?

pl

i want to buy a good gaming monitor. i am not to worried about the price as long as its not like $1000 maybe $700 absolute tops. it has to be big... at least 22'' but preferably 24''. also it must be glossy.

Answer
For gaming monitors, the Samsung Syncmasters are the way to go. 2ms response times and 1000:1 and higher contrast ratios. Also you can look for the Acer P221w. It's 22" widescreen but is an older model and can be harder to find. It's the monitor I use and it's fantastic. In the latest issue of Consumer Reports, the P221w got the highest score out of the 22" and larger monitors they tested. 1680x1050 resolution, 5ms response time, 2500:1 contrast ratio and it comes in gloss black with a silver base.

3d games without 120hz monitor?

Is it possible to play games in 3d with a standard 60hz hd monitor? If so, what software could I use to do this?

Answer
Games written to work with 3D Stereoscopic shutter glasses like nVidia's 3DVision will NOT work in 3D on a 60Hz monitor. Those require three things: a video card that supports 3DVision, the shutter glasses, and a monitor that can receive a 120Hz DVI or HDMI signal.

No way around it. That's how those games are written. If you don't have the right equipment, you are restricted to playing those games in regular 2D.
