Led vs Lcd vs Plasma

All I know is that Plasma is famous for screen burn in's, good for dark situations, but shouldn't be used as a Computer Screen.

I always thought that Leds had more to do with Clock Radios and Lights, but now see that there also a type of tv or monitor.

Can you explain, the LifeSpan and what makes these TV platforms different?
Lcd = Liquid Crystal Display

Answer
All current HD television technologies produce a great picture.

There are no actual LED sets on the market yet (except for a Sony model that's over a thousand bucks for a 13" screen). Those that are marketed as LED are actually LCD sets that use LED lights for the back light. They are able to produce higher contrast than traditional LCD sets which use fluorescent back lights.

Plasma is not famous for burn in. In fact, you would need to leave a static image on a modern Plasma set for many hours before any image retention would occur. For this reason, they are not recommended for video games and computer monitors. They make great TV sets because their color and contrast are unmatched by LCD sets.

LCD sets are brighter, so they are better in brightly lit rooms or for viewing in daylight situations. They seem to be taking over as the preferred display medium regardless of their less saturated colors and tendency toward judder and blur during fast motion situations. Top of the line LCD sets have technology to almost eliminate blur and judder however.
