report abuse in games?

g egan

bridge player kent89-98 always, always enters game and then bids 7NT and leaves.
he is consistent. creates major problems if he cant be booted timely. what can yahoo do to monitor and block these players?

Answer
This question, sometimes mentioning a different ID, but usually exactly the same player, has been asked here a dozen times before: just do a search for '7nt' to find the other answers.
Yahoo cannot 'monitor' over 2000 games rooms in a free site: they rely on people like you to report abuse and (more importantly) use the tools you have already been given, such as the 'boot button', the public>private table function, and the 'stand button' (which can effectively be used to prevent a 7NTer from starting a game).

You can report abuse via the general link here: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/games/abuse.html or sometimes via the 'report abuse' link on a miscreants 'complete profile page'; but in either case you need to have a screenshot, or (better) a recording of the game action.
In any case, this 'Kent' clone has 150 other IDs to use, and can always make new ones if banned; he could even avoid that by using a proxy server or IP scrambler.

The advice from Yahoos games help page (http://help.yahoo.com/kb/index?page=product&y=PROD_GAMES&locale=en_US) is simple: 'To eject a player from a table, click "Boot" and type in that player's name. That player will then be removed from your table. To prevent the offending player from re-entering the room, you can then make the room private.'

As bridge is an unrated game, it is essential to boot Kent BEFORE the game starts (otherwise he can always return to 'his' seat). Therefore, BEFORE the game starts, click on 'Boot', and type in 'Kent89_98'; then position this 'boot window' to the left of the table window (partially overlapping your table window), with the word 'boot' visible at all times: after the game starts you should only need to click it when waiting for a replacement player, as you will obviously ALWAYS have the table private the rest of the time (note the sarcasm........90% of tables in the bridge room are public).

Do a search for 'boot the 7NTer', and you'll find comprehensive booting methods here: 'Never +bridge +bids 7 NT?'
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20101009151257AAol6A2

Sadly, despite the fact that 'The Cloner' (the real Kent is 98_89) has been disrupting games for over 11 years, only a few players (such as dncnref, z2a2008, xpress50, b0nehead45 and myself) seem capable of A. Detecting the 7NTers presence B. Booting him quickly enough & C. Protecting the table......too many hosts can't even read the names of the players, let alone remember them!
But consider yourself lucky that all Kent does is boot people from 'his seat' and bid 7NT; you can always undo the bid/start another table, and there are far worse activities in other Yahoo games: stalling, program use, mass booting and 'room-freezing'.

Sorry all......i got the regular windows to maximize...thank you all for your help....but now my yahoo games window will not maximize...sorry for the bother...but if anyone could help me....i would be very happy :)

Answer
SOme Yahoo games have different sized windows. Look for a drop down bar near the top where you pick a lounge to enter.

If the window is not filling the whole monitor screen, take advantage of other things to click on your games window (eg, Score, Last trick, Last hand in Pinochle)
