need help building gaming computer?

Kaleb

I am looking for a good gaming computer. I've been told that the custom computers are better than prebuilt computers. But i don't know much about the parts of the computer. I want it to be fast, and be able to run any games with no problems (and maybe have a nice case with custom lights on it). I have About $1000 to spend on everything, including the computer, the monitor, the mouse, and the keyboard. I need some help putting together a good computer.

Answer
gaming computer for $1000 with monitor, kb & mouse

mobo - ASRock H77M LGA 1155 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157303
cpu - Intel Core i5-3470 Ivy Bridge 3.2GHz http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115234
ram - CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1600 Low Profile http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233186
gpu - HIS IceQ X H687QN1G2M Radeon HD 6870 1GB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161396
hdd - Seagate Barracuda ST31000524AS 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148697
opt. drive - LG DVD Burner Black SATA Model GH24NS90 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136247
psu - OCZ ModXStream Pro 600W Modular http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341017

monitor - Acer S201HLbd Black 20" 5ms LED-Backlight LCD http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009256
kb & mouse - Microsoft Black USB Wired Desktop 600 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823109078
total $996 (shipping not included)

the only missing thing in this setup are the lights in the case unless you get 1 or 2 additional case fans with LEDs.
I would have liked to have an HD 7850 graphics card, but had it to sacrifice for an HD 6870 because of the monitor.
