Hello, I am building a gaming PC and a problem that I have been encountering lately so far is picking the right monitor. I want a monitor that is full 1080p. I also want to hook up my PS3 to the monitor. My budget is 200 dollars and I'm only buying from Newegg.com. Any suggestions?

Answer
For your budget, you'll be hard-pressed to find a 120Hz or IPS, even an S-IPS. Your best bet is Asus, Acer or Dell. HP and Dell have some fantastic panels, but you would have to find a used one to keep within your budget.

The above answer is correct, but there are some issues. IPS panels can't refresh as fast as TN, so if your used to a smoother picture when there's lots going on, you might see the difference. But as a person who used both a TN and IPS on a daily basis, the incredible color and angles make the more expensive monitor worth it.

Asus makes fantastic TN panels though, I own a 21.5" 1080p. 2ms response, great viewing angles for a TN, and no dead pixels after a year and a half. Most of them are under $200 as well.

Which monitor would you recommend?

This question is subjective without a perfect answer I know, but I would like some feedback. I am a gamer and work from my monitor as well so I appreciate high resolution. I have a 25.5" Asus monitor (similar to the VW266H but with a 2MP camera) that has 1920x1200 resolution, 2ms response. I have a Gigabyte GTX670 OC that runs all my games (Crysis 1,2, Skyrim, Diablo III, SimCity, Most Wanted 2012, Orcs Must Die 2, StarCraft II) well but I'm wanting a little better monitor or monitors. I have heard that two screens are pointless for gaming because the crosshair ends up being at the edge of both monitors. I've also heard that three monitors can work great but are largely unsupported or buggy among the majority of games. The second issue with three monitors for me is that I don't want to purchase another graphics card until the new Nvidia release next year (depending on specs). So unless someone can convince me to go with three monitors for what I play, I am considering one.
The monitor I have is a matte finish TN panel which is good, but I have been considering VA and IPS panels for their price and features. My budget is about $400 unless again their is considerable reason to save upto about $550 max. I like the 2ms response time on my monitor but 5ms isn't bad in my mind. I like the even color offered by IPS monitors, but true blacks in VA monitors are tempting. I'm torn between the Monoprice 27" IPS 2560x1440 (16:9) monitor and or going with a 120Hz or 3D monitor (that would probably only be 1080p in my budget). I like the 16:10 aspect, but 2560x1440 outdoes my current monitor so I could deal with it as 2560x1600 is out of my budget. Based on the games I play, I am interested to hear any recommendations about monitors in this price range that are great.

Glossy screens don't bother me, and won't be a problem in the room it will be in.
